BETTER BRAKING POWER!

439 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  E10VSE
I recently bought a 2005 VRSCSE . I am sure for 2005 the brakes were considered pretty decent for me they SUCK! I could throw some good HH pads in it and that would probably help a lot. But I am Not a purist just because its a CVO bike . I am out of the loop whats available for the Vrod brakes. I wouldnt mind doing rotors and calipers at some point. Thanks and ride fast

Free Spirits do a full brembo disc n caliper upgrade for V-Rods, not cheap but has to be one of the best options

I have carbon composite rotors and lyndall pads, along with carbon BST wheels which contribute to a nice weight saving, but I cant say that this pad/rotor combo are any better than OE pads in braking performance. The discs are supposed to last forever...time will tell. They have been on about 20k miles.
A more cost-saving solution is to go for Brembo calipers and discs that came originally on V-rod from around 2006-up. These are noticeably better than their predecessor Kelsey Hayes.
Brembo calipers use dot4 brake fluid so there is a chance that you will have to change gaskets in mc's as dot 4 and 5 must not be mixed.

You could go with Hawg Halter calipers

I bought a set of adapter brackets and mounted a GXR set of brakes on them. 2 finger stopping power now. Much better than the factory Brembo's.

New pads, the original brake is very good. I could make the front wheel lock up at 100 km/h, the rest is cosmetics.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I’m ordering some Lyndall rotors and HH pads . That should be more than plenty . Maybe too much but Overkill is Underrated
