OK, I've picked up a TomTom Rider 2 in London, and when I get home to Portugal I'll be wanting to mount the dock. Where is the best place to take switched power (ie on when the ignition is on, otherwise off) from, for something bar mounted?

I would use the Accessory circuit. This is a 15 amp fused circuit and is identified by an orange wire with white stripe. There is a feed to the instrument cluster, to the rear stop light switch, to the left hand control (for the horn and signal), the right hand control (for the front brake light switch and the signal), to the headlight connector, and to the tail light connector. You could also tap it at the fuse panel.

The other option would be to use an unused "spare" fuse position and feed this new fuse from the red wire with gray stripe off the ignition switch. This wire is hot in both the "on" and the "accessory" positions.
