I was reading some of the other threads that members have posted about putting auxillary tanks on their bikes, I have a long trip coming up next week and thought I would rig something up. I have a nice 3 liter plastic fuel tank with vented cap that would fit in my tail bag, I know its not large but its almost 1 gallon and would give me another 35 - 40 miles. Anyway, I have it set up to flow into the vent tube on the main tank like the others members have done, but the fuel will not flow, only when I shut off the bike and open the gas cap on the main tank will the fuel flow from the aux tank. Seems the main tank is under pressure when I open the cap preventing the aux tank to flow. I even tried removing the aux tank cap while the bike is idleing and still no flow. Anyone have any ideas why the fuel does not flow?
