Just a short ride with a long slide and a flip.

Was supposed to be a short ride to the foot hills parkway, 2 miles from my house. It ended up only about 1 1/2 miles where I hit some crumbled asphalt on a sharp right hander, and I couldn't correct it. The rest is history. Waiting to see what GEICO has to say. I'd prefer to rebuild with all I have into it, but might be in the market for another R. Won't power up at the moment, headlight comes on but nothing else including the instrument cluster. My left hand is the size of a softball, so I can't dig into it for a few days. I will have a R, just not sure if it will be this one. (y)

New switch housing, Quick turn G2 throttle tube, grips, front brake master assy, possible just a fluid cover, mirror, new mufflers, etc and you're up and running. Do yourself a favor, my street rod got backed into with me sitting on it in a parking lot on the other side of the dragons tail - if the H-D dealer tells you 2 months to give you an estimate just write down all the NEW Cost parts needed, get that parts estimate, go to service dept. and ask for flat rate for R&R of the parts, bleed brakes, check front end fall away etc. - include new airbox cover cost and special paint $ 350 add it all up, add a $ 600 helmet and submit to insurance.
Ok, You're good! How could you tell I had the Quick turn G2 throttle tube on my bike with that picture? I have to replace the tree since the steering stop sheared off, it was factory as I never changed it out since it never developed a clunk. I also have all the original tins /covers. Already have a list of available factory parts, aftermarket mods I installed, and parts available for discontinued factory. Thanks for the heads-up on how to deal with H-D dealer, not sure how it will go since they know the only way they'll touch my bikes would be recalls. As soon as my hand is usable I'll dig into it for the rebuild. We have plans for Sturgis this year and the R will be there. They can have my bike right after they take my guns!

Did you get a chance to take any pictures of the gravel/asphalt in the turn??
Good idea, will have to revisit and take some pics.

Found some original 46781-06a (steel stem?) new on Ebay going for $300. Have a list of visual items started, going to dig deeper into the bike tomorrow. Just need to get GEICO moving on this, and Blount county sheriff's office said they have to fill out the report, send it to Nashville for approval before I can get the report. WTF? Vintage parts? that a website I don't know about?
they won't ship? They are selling parts on Fleabay................
I appreciate all the help I can get, and thanks all for the well wishes. Just a warning: I ride hard, so this isn't my first time riding the pavement and probably not the last

Bought one today when they gave me a special offer ...........
Harley-Davidson TRIPLE CLAMP ASSYLWR 46781-06A Harley-Davidson 46781-06A
$250.00Unit price $250.00
Item number:314274833933
Now I have to fight it out with GEICO since it isn't in the first estimate. How the hell can you do an estimate with just a few pictures? Well they're starting at $4,300........ Told them they aren't totaling out my bike. checked it over today and replaced 2 fuses. IM fired right up until the wiring harness to the right hand controls shorted it out.......... wires are cut in half  Let the games begin, off to Stealership tomorrow to get some quotes on parts and labor. Will by parts from them if they work with me. (y)

UPDATE: GEICO came through! Wasn't easy though, with 2 "repair" facilities saying they'd charge for a quote but they wouldn't actually work on a Vrod. Followed Street's recommendation and did some leg work on getting prices on my own. Contacted my GEICO rep, and worked with him to get the funding without totaling out my R. Stressing the "you aren't totaling out my bike" part......... Now the fun part, the rebuild. Thanks again to all!
