I've noticed I can smell the engine coolant, mostly while stationary, but sometimes while riding at speed. Is this normal? Fluid level is ok.

Not sure what year you have. There are many possible culprits, especially with the early models, 02-05, when they changed the design of the overflow bottle.
Things to check.

Any hose connections, ie. worm gear clamps etc.

If an early overflow bottle, 02-04, the nipple for the vent line is prone to breakage, the later design fixed this.

Also with the early bottle, aggressive riding would case the coolant to slosh around and leak passed the top which only snapped on and did not have rubber seal, also fixed on the redesign/retro-fit 05 series bottle.

The weep hole or gasket for the coolant pump. Look for threads on this.

As mentioned in the linked thread (see Scarecrow post) the least amount of coolant can be smelled even just vapors so it can be frustrating.
