I let them do my 1st. After that I bought a manual and do everything myself. I probably wont get anything else done by a dealer till I need a Valve Adjustment. Its all pretty easy if your mechanically inclined, not to mention it feels great to do your work. When you change the oil filer, Id recommend going back with the K & N oil filter. Its got a nut welded on the bottom that helps a LOT getting that thing off. And it also helps to get the bike warm first. Seems to help me get that filter off.

Do it yourself! Get the manual at Chicagoharley.com (around $45.00 + shipping). AMSoil is the best, 20-50W, IMO. Not sure on the plugs but I am sure someone will chime in.

My first service was free, so I let them do it. Changed my own at 5k an 10k. Get the filter adapter and you are good to go.

NGK's DCPR8E $3.50 at my local shop
