I get my first HD. The DX.
I put about 1500miles on it in under 3 weeks.
Got it up to 130mph on an open freeway headed towards Palm Springs, CA.
Never, not once, had to lay any bike down....

"Never ride faster than your angels can fly" - "Stay loud to Stay alive"

Recently went over the handle bars on my DX, doing about 30mph, while avoiding a kid (15-16yo) on a skateboard. I landed about 40 feet away, on feet and right hand... Broke the wrist ( so someone has to shuffle for me on poker nights) Sightly bent the handlebar on the left side and bent a foot peg, didn't even scratch the paint. Things coulda been so much worse, but I felt like something caught me. No shit.

Ps, what can I do to make the pipes louder? Maybe if the kid woulda heard me coming, this shit could have been avioded.

thanx

speaks, you are not alone, my brother, and there may be bad news ahead... I've had many street bikes too, since the early 70's, and never had a traffic mishap. Then my 3 week old VRod with 1500 miles took a slide on a sandy curve. That was April 16, I'm pretty much healed and have been ready to ride for a long time, and there is no estimate when the bike will be out of the shop. Over two months waiting for parts from the Mother Ship in KC. I hope your dealer is a lot more competent than Carson City HD.

Keep healing, and buy yerself a new lid.

Several loud options. CFR seems to be the loudest muffler, Thunderheader, or if you want it to remain stock apearing a Vmod. A few others are also out there. Anything you do for loud will be about $800+ Vmod will be a little less. You will need some type of fuel programmer to go with any performance mods you do.

Thanx to all

Thanx to all that posted a response, it's pretty cool that you all are out there and supporting each other. It's very cool that everyone seems to care and have great sugestions.

I'll be be back on my bike in a 3-4 weeks, so if anyone in the LA/Hollywood area wants to ride... Let's do it, Hollywood stlye! Melrose, Sunset strip, Mulholland Drive, or just hanging out and turning heads.

Cheers

Look forward to the ride through Hollywood :)

Check out the rallys section on the forum, there is a ride coming up in July to Big Bear, and am sure there will be a ride up around Hollywood coming up too.

Nice job missing the kid and on the landing... when you got up did you do this? ... and then judges on the side of the road raise signs indicating a score between 1-10? :)

... felt more like this

The only score I could have gotten was a 5-0, had i gotten close to the kid. I was glad he skated away. (but i do know what he looks like... i kinda feel like he owes me his skateboard.
