2013 Night Rod LED rear fender delete

I'm trying to install a rear fender delete/turn signal kit and I ran into a problem. I'm wiring up the signal/brake lights and I can't get them to work properly. When I press the brake the signal light engage (amber) and not the brake only (red). I have the brake wire tapped into the upper tail light. So my question is; How can I stop the signal lights from engaging when pressing the brake?
