Was going to a brake job this morning, but ran into a wierd issue. I know our Vrods have a mix on metric and SAE bolts, but what size head are the pins that hold in the brake pads on a 2005 Vrod? The main bolts are 10mm, but I cannot find a socket to fit the smaller pins. it looks around 6mm. I dont want to get out the hammer yet...
Has anyone run into a similar issue when pulling pads? Thanks.

You have a picture of a 2005 Screamin Eagle with Brembo brakes in your post. If they are the same as the Brembo brakes on my 2006, and I'm sure that they are, then it is 5mm. I just verified it with a 5mm key.

Thanks, I'll try the 5mm again. I think only the 2006 and later had the Brembo brakes. Pre 2006 had the standards. Not sure if that changes pin sizes.

Well I broke down and read the manual..it is a 1/4" 12 point head. That makes sense right? Put 4 10 MM bolts on the caliper and then throw in a few 1/4" ones for good measure. It had to be the same engineer who designed the fuel gauge. :banghead:
