There were some threads from several years ago on this topic so rather than try to resurrect one of those, I thought I'd start a new one.
Here's my situation. The solenoid on my 2003 VRSCA, (P/N 71474-01), which was only made for the 2002 and 2003 model years needs to be replaced but it is no longer made by Harley and I can't find a new one anywhere online. (Someone is asking for $120 for a used one on Ebay but I am not spending that amount on a used item.) The solenoid for the 2004 to 2006 model years (P/N 71474-04) may be available if I search around but the older threads on this said it would require some modifications involving the wiring. There was also mention of a non-OEM part from Denso (P/N 182800-2280) which is both readily available and inexpensive at sparkplugs.com.
My question is this. Has anyone done this wiring modification and can you tell me what is involved? Any help is appreciated.
