does anyone know where i can get a 12 volt outlet similar to the one in the link but with some way to mount it and a cover/cap?

Do you already have the battery tender pigtail on your bike? That usually comes with a cap for it and it's easy enough to hook up the 12v adapter when you're going out for a ride and need it.

thats similar to the other one i saw but it has a cop. I'm surprised i cant find one that has something on it to mount it to the bike. i did see a chrome one but it was about $90.00.

what are you attempting to power up? If GPS, have you considered a hardwired GPS power supply?

thats the one I saw that I thought was $90.00. THere has to be one out there like that but not as fancy. did that one plug into the battery tender or does it wire right to the battery.

Be sure you check the wires in that socket. The one my bud had wase bad soldered ! i hooked it up just before a trip and it worked 1 second... than the fuse blew...
I use the nav only ones a year so velcro is my bud for holding it down a frametube

I just got back from a 5k mile cross-country trip. I temporarily wired a weather-proof outlet like this with an inline fuse directly to the battery and zip tied it to the handlebars. Worked great and only cost about $10.



To the right of the cluster you can see the GPS charger plugged in. Simple, yet effective.

It came with an adaptor if you wanted to hook it up to the tender if I remember correctly. There is a decent amount of chrome and aluminum on that plug and hence the price.

i used a 10 dollar one that has a spring cap from autozone. ziptied on my bars, been there for years without an issue. not as pretty as the chrome one but much much cheaper and just as effective
