08AW, Putting new fender on rear (je300) and I am debating between 12 or 12.5. Just putting cheap 412's on.

Don't plan on doing anything to the front right now, and plan on going to a 260 metz towards the end of the year.

Oh yea, where is the best/cheapest place to get online?

Any feedback appreciated.

I know, I know, I know... arnotts. Per ebay I can pick these up for about $200. While I appreciate you guys looking out for me I don't have the extra $700 for arnotts, maybe next year after I learn my lesson.

My question is for looks and ride 12 or 12.5, does it matter? and will a 260 cause any problems.

How much do you weigh? I am 215 lbs and had the 12" 412's and it looked good, but the frame dragged, so I got 13" 412's. The ride is great, but with my chopped rear fender, the bike doesn't look right parked, so I got the Arnott's in the GB last month.

Folks, Progressive shocks are the bottom of the barrel, the lowest quality shocks you can buy. Wilbers is having a promotion on their shocks for V-Rods and XR-1200's. They will build them to any length you like, they can be ordered with adjustable length ( the end shaft can be screwed in or out 10 mm to change the ride height ), with or without remote reservoirs. Each shock is custom tailored to your weight and riding style, they can be rebuilt and valved to your taste. Here is the link to their website in Germany. If you contact them they will tell you who sells and services them in your area. Most are BMW dealers as Wilbers has a very strong following among BMW owners. This is a top quality shock. Progressive is junk.

i have 12.5s on my aw.i had bottoming out probs with the 240 tyre onder the fender until i added extra stops to the shocks .had to add spacers to the springs to be able to carry a pillion.now all is ok.12s will be too low imho.fitted custom made ohlins with seperate resivoir to a cx and they are waaaay better.the progressives are too stiff and dont control the rough roads as well as the ohlins which give a much smoother ride.

12s or 12.5s heavy duty will work fine. The 12.5 inch shocks are used to lower the d (harley lowering kit) and are used in the dx as stock. Lower the seat ht .6 inches. Would definitely use heavy duty if you go to 12s.
