I feel for you guys. A $20,000+ investment you can't use during riding season has got to be very frustrating. As for me...1100 miles on SC #3 and counting...

I think the bigger question is how long can V&H continue to afford to give each customer 2, 3, or even 4 superchargers as is Kevs case? I think is some of the SC blow ups have gotten some motors too. I think Sprintex had better get their shit straight and fast. :2cents:

Wow. First supercharger I have ever owned is on my truck and I love it. I was looking forward to putting a supercharger on my ride in my next round of modifications/purchases. If either Sprintex and/or V&H's is listening to its existing customers then they should be concerned about this product. I know I am just one future customer with a measly $5,000.00 but for now I am stuffing that money back under the bed. I hope this product gets better reviews in the future as I like the performance it provides and the looks but it has to have a better overall report card. It is nice to hear members with problems say how much they appreciate the support they have recieved from V&H but I am sure you would appreciate being able to use your investment (motorcycle & supercharger), even more. Good luck to all and thanks for sharing the stories, good and bad.

:them: I'm sitting in the same boat. Was looking froward to being able to finally force inducting one of my bikes and liked the look of the V&H but with everything I've been reading I might hold off a year or two. Sucks guess I better stick that money in a CD so I don't blow it on some other mod huh? LOL Well hopefully someone out there will listen to us and come out with a decent supercharger for these bikes.

I'm taking my bike to V&H next Tuesday to get the upper seal replaced, yesterday something weird happend,, the bike now will not take any acceration past half a twist of the throttle,, it just bogs nown like it is running out of gas. I have to gently get it to 70mph, like almost a minute. It runs fine at 70,, but almost impossible to get it past 4000 rpm, acts just like the injector in the SC quit working and it can't handle the added air injection of opening up the throttle without the extra gas that injector provides. But they will get a chance to figure out next week (after I drive the 10 hour round trip),, can't imagine what i would be doing if I lived farther away. Will let you all know after I return.

Could that just be the fuel flange?

Not sure I know what you mean? flange at what point? loose? leaking?

Dan welcome to the s/c club now. Make sure all the vac lines are checked. Be glad you only have a 10 hour round trip, before I moved it was 10 hours one way for me. I'll be interested to hear what they find out. My bikes been there a week and a half now waiting to have the motor pulled.

thanks,, I will check, but a lot of these lines are hard to even see now. I will let you know, if not when I get back from V&H on Tuesday.

Update:

Just got back from Vance and Hines, the fixed the upper pulley shaft leaking seal problem and after 100 miles or so is is bone dry (not like it would have been before) so so far so good with that. As far as it basically shutting down on hard acceleration, the vacuum lines to the sensor at the back of the SC had worn though from rubbing on the belt, probably from me having to move them all the time to wipe off all the gear lube that was leaking all over the place everyday. Regardless they fixed them and it runs great. Bottom line (and I am knocking on wood!) after about 100 miles my bike does not leak a drop of anything, runs like a raped ape (at least at nearly 160hp is way good enough for me), starts and runs perfectly. One comment that I have "heard" is that if you do not run at least 93 octane fuel in these supercharged bikes (like is says in red letters in your manual) ,, you WILL be visiting your installer with multiple major problems. I use (and did before the SC) 94 octane (Sunoco) and sometimes mix it with 110 octane (also at Sunoco) and after 15k zero problems. Hopefully my next post on here will be about rear tire wear, or how to hang on!

:)

I just hope that they get all the bugs and issue's worked out in the next year or so....I really wanna pick on up for my bike but with all the problems everyones been having I just don't feel comfortable dropping 5k and wondering when the bike is gonna be down or not...

HD dealer claim w/ V&H SC problems

I spoke to one of the HD mechanics installing V&H SC on V-Rods (Rocky's London, Ont.) enquiring about when the bugs would be ironed out. He flatly denied there were any mechanical problems with the blower itself, insisting that all the problems stemed the EFI mapping which is now resolved.

I kept quiet, as his story didn't quite jive with what I've been reading here; but I do hold out hope that V&H will have the kinks ironed out soon. I am leaning towards the SC option for its stealthy looks and can't imagine why these problems aren't correctable. Just the same, I think I'll keep my money in my pocket until I know for sure.

He obviously does not know the past history.

D,A,G aka: Dishonest, Arrogant and Greedy not necessarily in that order. My dealer here lies to my face the same way. Not anymore.

I took my bike to have the idle bumped up after the turbo was installed. It sat there for 2 weeks and when I went to pick it up, it wouldn't run on acceleration at all. I took it right back and the Tech promptly went on holidays for a week, after being told to finish my bike!

3 weeks to have the idle bumped up 50 RPM so it wouldn't trip the IAC sensor.
I lose my bike for 3 weeks and somehow for saying anything to the dealer I'm now the problem.

I am now joining the procession of others heading to another dealer, Russ, unlike the London area though the closest, reputable dealer out here is 200 miles away.

These are excellent threads. Perhaps someone elses misfortune will hopefully help others learn what to check for or avoid making the same type of mistakes. Kev, don't get me wrong but after I read some of your posts I'm sure glad I went with the turbo. Good luck with yours. Seriously!

Oh, BTW, the know it all Tech buggered with the map. The original Trask map was reloaded and it runs great once again.

Thanks, Pat.

Getting back to the original thread, it doesn't seem like the reliability of the Sprintex SC is alltogether there...I, for one, can't afford the time or money to keep sending the bike back to V&H to get things fixed. Also, according to V&H, if the unit is not installed by an authorized installer, there is no warranty.

If the aim of your excercise is to learn something from people who actually own these power adders and use them every day, simply hit the search button and read away. The information is most likely from people who actually do own them and not speculation or information from brochures etc. How's that? Close enough to the original thread for you. Sorry if I confused the issue for you by something that I had to add. :chair:
