nice to have another "warm" body from oahu on board. i will pm rich and DTHDOC to have them register too.

i will be off island for a week, however, when i get back, maybe we can get together for a ride.

btw, what flavor of vrod do you ride?

Howdy and WELCOME!

Thanks Guys, I have been busy working on the rod. She's now got a 240 on the rear now and I have to button some things up. Once I am pau I will get some pics up in a gallery and a discription of the endless pit I call Charlene, I just made that up, it's my wifes name, but it works.

Aloha

Howz It!

Aloha everyone! Happy Super Bowl Sunday!

I wanted to get back to you all. Been busy working on the Rod and still working on it. A week ago I asked Vaxination about maybe starting up a Hawaii based club. I had been thinking about trying to start one up for organized rides and events, just good fun and good times and good grindz. What do you all think? I have a name in mind and some Ideas but I am new to the group thing, been riding on and off, different rides for 14 years by myself and with a few friends. Nothing official, in fact I would still keep a club informal and cruize. I have been on the 2002 Vrod for the last couple of years, bought it used and have been modifying it on and off for the last year.

What do you think? Are there enough VRSCs in the Islands? We could start with rides on Oahu and who knows with the Super Shuttle Ferry coming this summer we could organize a ride to an outer Island with more folks. I could just be smokin but thought I would bring up the idea.

Anyay, my ride:

2002 VRSCA -
Modifications:
Samson Long Slashers Exhaust
Most HD Chrome extras
Hand Controls
Arlen Ness Extended Foot Controls
Chrome Fork sliders
HD Chrome Calipers, Turn Signals, LED tail light and Mirrors
H.Lector Rims from Ricks Rims (240 conversion kit with stock swing arm) from - Germany
http://www.ricks-motorcycles.de/english/Ricks-Motorcycles.htm
Rick's site has a ton of Vrod Modified rides worth taking a look at, real radical stuff like the Mono Swin Arm, pretty slick set ups
I have a 28 Tooth Pully from Ricks also

Big Al's on Oahu installed the conversion kit, with some modifications on fender. Learned the hard way though, I wanted the HD top and bottom Belt guard that I had on, modified to work with the 240 conversion, we tried to make it work and it did to a point, but it left a slight scratch on my rear pulley so I took it off. Now I just bought a custom top belt guard from www.breathlessperformance.com in florida, should come in this week.
I love the feel of the 24 on the back end, still responsive and a tight. The Pulley added nice sharp response in the get off. I just uploaded some pictures, check em out.

Well, hope we can hook up for a ride and grindz someday.

Aloha

howzit ak,

your idea sounds like fun. i see v-rods running around the island every so often. in fact, i was riding around diamond head yesterday and i swore i passed an orange v-rod. i live on the east side of oahu and i occasionally see a silver v-rod (is that you?). anyway, it would be great to get us all together once in a while for an organized ride.

i took a look at your pics in the gallery. nice bike! you and doc have some nice mods going on. my bike is pretty stock, although i have ordered a d&d fat cat exhaust that should be here any day now. i have also ordered some powder coated engine parts from tyson.

i must admit that i am a lone wolf rider, however, i wouldn't mind pursuing your ideas about organized rides. let me know what the others think. actually, i have really been excited about the super shuttle ferry. it opens up the rest of the state for us. once the super ferry starts up, i would definitely like to go on a group ride. while, i would ride with a group of different kinds of bike, an "all v-rods" ride would be great!

oh, btw, the grindz part sound pretty good to me.

Han Solo

Vaxination,
Howz it, what kind of tank (air cover) bag do you have? Is it detachable? Anyway, no one else responded to a group ride or club, maybe one day just a big get together of Vrods on the Island. I did see today going down Kalanianaolie heading West, an All Chrome, rod. Then about 30 seconds behind him was a Screaming Eagle Vrod Orange and black. Yesterday I saw the new 07 Black on Black Night Rod, AWESOME. So there are a bunch out here. I Also saw a custom Red with flames Vrod last month on H1.

Yes, the silver one you saw in the East might have been me, I stay out in Hawaii Kai. I guess lone wolf it is. I ride with a few guys, a Fat Boy and a Night Train. But hey if anyone is rolling, let me know , if I am free I'm in.

Aloha!

howzit ak,

i have a cortech super mini tank bag. there are 2 versions, magnetic and strap on. since we have aluminum tanks, i got the strap on version. here is a link that has pictures of both the magnetic and strap on versions... http://www.motoemporium.com/tourmaster/tmsuperminitankbag.html

i think i got mine at http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com.

i have seen the chrome one and the orange one too. i haven't seen the dx yet.

today i got a call from the honolulu hogs. i didn't even know i was a member. i guess because i bought the bike from cycle city. well anyway, there is some big media event to promote the "wild hogs" movie and the honolulu hogs are trying to get 100 bikes rolling to a movie theater where the hogs get some kind of private screening of the movie. the ride is on feb 25.

anyway, i told them i would ride, however, i haven't ridden in big groups before and i have never ridden with the hogs. i figure i will try it out just to see what its like, although i must admit that i am i like riding by myself or in a very small group. do you belong to the honolulu hogs?

btw, i live just down the road from you in kahala. maybe we can get together for a ride. man, the weather has been real nice lately.

yeah, that's the one. i have never ridden with them, however, i am going to ride with them tomorrow (sunday) just so i can see what its like. then if it looks cool then i will do the "wild hogs" movie ride on the 25th.

i probably won't ride with the hogs much, maybe once every couple of months, but i figured that i would at least check it out.

How did the ride go?

Vax how was it today? What were the numbers like? I was at cycle city this afternoon and saw their deal about the HOG movie premier. Can any Harley join the ride that day? let me know, I think I would like to join in if I can.

Thanks
AK

the ride yesterday was a bit wet early in the morning. on my way to cycle city i got rained on as i was going through town. however, most of the ride with the hogs was dry. we went over the h-3 to waimanalo and had pancakes at one of the member's house. after that we went to shriners children's hospital to visit the kids and pass out teddy bears. the members are friendly and easy going. there was about 15 bikes in the pack today.

as for next sunday's ride, it is for hog members (honolulu chapter), however, if you want to join, you can fill out an application (only $24) this week and ride with us. it would be nice to have another v-rod in the pack. pm me if you would like me to contact the hogs to get you signed up.

we are going to ride to koolau theater where 150 seats have been reserved for us to see a private showing of the "wild hogs" movie before its release. they want to get at least 100 riders. i think over 80 have committed so far.

HOG Wild

Vax,
Thanks, I would actually like to sign up for the HOG group. But I think my wife is going to put the kabash on for Sunday's ride. Let me know if I can sign up as a member for future events.
Thanks
