What is the best full Syn oil to use in my 04 V Rod ? also what weight ?
My definition for broke-in good was when it stopped using oil. Amsoil makes a filter for the VROD and I use their filter. :notworth:Boozer said:What is "broke-in good?" Also, what are guys using for an oil filter. Is Harley the only option? There must be a good quality replacement for a fraction of the price.
That's correct.Boozer said:Is the filter the SMF-136?

Check out the link on my website that has a letter directly from Harley about using a different brand oil and the implications it has on the warranty. On my homepage if you look down the right side there is a latest news section on the link is in that section. www.modernoils.com

Sorry about that. I have been making some changes and will get the links back in order.drpeter said:I could not find the link to the letter, there is not a latest news section (?)
Anyone else find it?
The K&N part number is KN-174C and the last time I checked Mobil did not have a V-Rod filter.jcr333 said:Question about filters, what is the part-number for a Mobil and K&N oil filter? I feel as these are good filters and would like to do my own oil change next time. As for oil, my personal choices are Mobil and Royal Purple and of course Amsoil. If I could get Amsoil easier I would use it. I can get Mobil and Royal Purple at the local auto parts store.
:them:Anyone going to use any Amsoil products, definatly give ken a call. He takes care of all the forum members with pricing breaks on everything Amsoil makes. Plus he is on the ball with shipping too. Thanks Ken for all you do to support us, its very much appreciated.
Harley recommends every 5000 miles even for their HD360 conventional oil so there is no reason to change the AMSOIL earlier than that.sveinn said:For those of you running AMSOIL, how often are you changing it? Every 2500 miles, or 5000?
