Howdy!
I just registered here on my Son-In-Law's orders. He is a member here and owns a 2002 V-Rod.
I am posting this to let him and all here know how much I appreciated him letting my youngest son and I take his Rod out for a spin while visiting my daughter and him on Thanksgiving Vacation.
As an owner of a 2003 FXD, I have to admit that at best I was ambivalent to the V-Rod in appearance and ride at that time. It was at the Spring Bike Week in Myrtle Beach that my opinion changed. I demo'd a new 2004 V-Rod and was awed by the power and handling. My son and I were just as impressed with the 2002 we rode this past week!!
I really get pissed when people make crap comments about the bike, I always did. A ride is a ride, as long as you are a biker I see no need to crap on everything but an air cooled big motored Harley. If more people would ride the Rod thay would shut the hell up as the entire bike is so advanced over the standard Harley. The tranny is butter smooth in operation, and the motor will beat any air cooled Harley.
The FXD is my first Harley bought new in 2003. I had to wait for a long time for my first Harley, as as an old fart I really wanted a traditional style H-D. However, if I win the lottery, my next H-D will be V-Rod fer shure!!!!
