Oxygen sensor location?

I will be sending my FAIC exhaust to be recoated and while it's stripped I am going to have them weld the bungs for o2 sensors. I am not running a fuel management system that requires this, but I want to have that option if I ever change without the risk of damaging the ceramic coating. I would appreciate it if someone would post a picture or explain to me where locate these so that I can advise the factory. Thanks.

The sensors that work with V Gauge recommend the sensors to be mounted as close as possible to the exhaust port of each cylinder on the exhaust pipes
If you're kneeling on the exhaust side of the bike, would it be appropriate to locate these on the opposing side with them slightly underneath the pipe itself?

You may want to get a o2 bung and sensor, to make sure you have the proper clearance around the sensor. You got to keep in mind that you may have to remove them. Also you need to leave room to slide your exhaust flanges past the studs.
You said BUNG... HEE HEE HEE :hidesbeh:

For the front you want to mount it on the inside of the pipe facing away from the exhaust side ~ 2" down from the exhaust port (note the position of any clamps for heat shields, mine is just below the stock heat shield clamp). For the rear it will be closer to the exhaust port on the bend so it's pointing away from the exhaust side of the bike. To gain access you will have to remove the pulley cover on the left side of the bike. Both of them end up tilted slightly down which is not optimal for condensation issues but there is no other option on our bikes. Just try to keep the down angle less than 45 degrees and you should be OK.

With the FIAC pipe you run the serious risk of clean air intrusion (reversion) that will invalidate your readings. Take that into account if you see excessive readings at idle or under deceleration.

Mark,

I can also add that reverison was an issue on using the Twinscan88+ on my Bub Jug Hugger's. That was the cause of the lean readings I was getting....just too much air sucking back up the pipe. The stock o2 bung on the Jug Hugg's was about halfway down the pipe and I suppose this only added to the problem. One of my winter mod's is putting bungs on the stock headpipes in the locations you mentioned (near them anyways) and switching out to the Thunderheaders.
