The latest version for the sonic fix was to incorporate a float in the tube so the sensor would read the level better. You have that one. Nothing since that. Now, there have been a couple that found out by adding Seafoam to the fuel, it seems to do something to make it work again. Why, I don't have a good reason for this since it's not like the older fuel level resistance strips that would gum up. Some kind of chemical voodoo shit I'm not smart enough to understand for these sonic sensing units. Try this first before buying another sender that will likely have the same issue down the road.

I've used Seafoam, Berrymans B-12 Chemtool, Chevron additives, run mostly non-Ethonal & the Gauge still does what it wants to @ different fuel levels. Even the fuel distance calculation by the ECM is always out of whack.
Base your riding on the Odometer. Safest way not to run out of fuel..

I have tried Seafoam, to no avail. It seems like the fuel gauge has a life of its own. And we are in a large community, a very common problem that affects 80% (at least) of the total number of V-rods. As mentioned, make it a habit to use the odo/trip meter when filling up as it is reliable. Actual.

Everyone has different opinions .
Bone Stock no mods around 120 to start before doing your own calculations with your riding style.

100 start lookin for a station after that. For the early 3.7 tank yea, that's about right -

For the 5 gallon tanks you can go 140 - 145, about halfway between E and 1/4 tank, but that's riding at lower speeds and taking it really easy on the highway. Once you start doing jackrabbit starts and 75+ mph the gas gets gobbled up faster, often I'll refuel at 100 - 120 miles in normal operation just to be safe but so far ( knock on wood ) my gas gauge has been very reliable and spot on as far as not fooling me that I had more fuel left than what the odometer says - just err on the side of caution it's very dangerous to run it outta gas and pushing a 640 lb bike out of traffic and on to the gas station is really no fun ! (y)

The most I've gone was 127 miles. Had around .3 gallon left in the tank. Very un nerving at that point. My 03 had screaming eagles mufflers with K&N filter and the ecm re-burned from Harley. It ran perfectly. No sputters no pops . I was a little harder than most on the throttle.
Most definitely agree with 100 miles start looking for a pump.

I pulled the sender out of the tank. I used a green scotch cleaner pad thingy like for pots and pans, lightly scrubbed the sender with wd 40. Works like a charm.
I used scotch bright pad and seafoam. My early sender works most of the time. It likes to stop some times right after I fuel up it reads empty. Then a few miles later it starks working again. I think the only reason it keeps working is because I have a brand new sender in a box waiting to be installed. They have a mind of there own.
