Well, Adam and I went today and picked up my new baby. She's an '02 VRSCA, anodized aluminum. The guy was kind of disgusted that he let her go for so cheap, after getting several calls asking him 'why is the bike so cheap, and was there something wrong with it', lol. :barf: I think he realized he could have gotten $13k easy for it, especially around here......but he made the deal with me for $11k and I had the title transferred yesterday already.
We got her home, and I sat on it, and wanted to ride so bad.....but my helmet's not in yet......and I promised myself and Adam that I wouldn't ride without a helmet, and his is WAY too big for me. I've heard too many fallen rider stories where the rider was only 1/4 to 1/2 mile away from their starting point when they wrecked, so as much as I want to ride it, I will wait until my helmet comes in. It was nice sitting on it, though, knowing that it was all mine and not 'ours', lol.   I'm in love!!!

Sweet, yep I am with the others on the helmet thing. To each their own though. Enjoy your new bike and don't forget to let us know what you think!

Here are some pics....

I can't re-attach pics, so here is my 'Help' thread with the pics in them.
I was so scared of driving a motorcycle........maybe it was just because I wasn't familiar with it, or with how to ride......nonetheless, two months ago, I would have never seen myself driving one. I figured when Adam and I bought the first VROD, that I would just be fine riding on the back of it. However, we took the Riders Edge safety course at Mancuso Harley Davidson, and I gained a whole new respect for someone who rides a motorcycle........If done correctly, there are SO many things you are doing all at once, it's not just hopping on and cruising.
Adam has been riding motorcycles and he learned so much and learned that he was doing some things wrong.
Thanks for the well-wishes!

Congrats and enjoy. I know you will. What type and model of helment did you buy?

Just got back from the Myrtle Bike Week. Thousands and thousands of bikes on the roads down there. S.C. has no helmet law. I was very easy to pick out of the bike gaggles as I was the only one (not literally) wearing a helmet. Ggecko's wife had one one too, but there were'nt many. I dont leave my driveway without it on. Its like a pair of pants to me, got to have it, I think pants were optional too at Myrtle. What a weekend!

Wow, sounds like a lot of fun was had. I read a thread where there were 15 wrecks and 3 deaths all only in the first 2 days! And one of the people were killed because they weren't wearing a helmet. We have 3 GORGEOUS kids (check my gallery, I'm not lying, lol) and too much to risk NOT wearing a helmet.
BTW, it was a Fulmer Modus that I have on order. Anyone know anything about those, good or bad? The reviews said it was better than average.....

I'm older and wiser, and no matter the law I wear a helmet. I have four
kids counting on me to return from my travels. Some of those travels may help to find a wife. Then again my chrome toys would have to slow
down. I guess I' ll just enjoy the ride and see what happens .

Congrats Jen. Good deal on a great bike. Be sure to let us know when you finally get to ride it.

Hey RJ,
Actually, I have been riding it around the neighborhood, getting practice. I want to be able to do all maneuvers near perfect before I get onto the open road.
I laid it down twice the first day I rode it, actually, I didn't give it enough gas, it stalled/jumped, while the handlebars were turned, and was too heavy for me to get straight again, so I just kind of 'sat' down with the bike on top of my leg. I did scrape the ends of the exhaust a bit, but I plan on modding those anyway. :banghead: :yak:
I was having probs with turning from a complete stop, and had 'object fixation' probs, but with some helpful reminders and tips from the ladies in the LL, I overcame that the next day, and have been doing great. It's been raining here the past 2 days, so I haven't been able to ride much this weekend. I will be practicing more the next couple of days, and then by mid week, I'm going to REALLY take her out for a ride. Maybe I'm being too cautious, but I would rather be safe than sorry, I love my life, face and skin too much, lol.

Congrats on the bike Jen.. I call mine the Silver Bullet also and I am having one of my spare air box covers painted with graphics of the Silver Bullet logo.
Take your time getting comfortable with the bike, it is better to be safe than sorry. Ride On.........

My GF recently got a Night Rod and did the same thing. Riding in the neighborhood, empty parking lots, etc. The biggest issue I have is that the V-Rod isn't any good under those conditions. The low speed handling is probably it's biggest fault. That front end rake doesn't make for sure feeling parkinglot speeds. After a week of the low speed stuff, and some frustration for the low speed handling issues with the V-Rod, she took it out on the open road, and now I can't get her to park the damn thing. Have patience, stick with it, and don't worry about dropping it. There isn't anything you will scrape up that you didn't want to upgrade anyway!!!!!! It's a huge step to take and know we're all pulling for you!!!! Ride Safe. :ride:
