I thought I saw a thread on here for stage II cam install? Thinking of installing myself. The mechanic that I was going to take my bike to on Monday called and said it would be two more weeks because he was going on vacation. I have a service manual but it says to remove the engine. Any step by step instructions out there and a list of any special tools needed?

My Service Manual for '09 VRSCAW does NOT say anything about removing the engine. Read my posts - I just finished mine, Phil(thy) just did his and there are others recently. You can get all the help you need right here at 1130cc.com

Did mine in my bike also..
If you have the extra space to pull your engine it makes the install/adjustments easier..

We have done a lot of these and pulled the motor every time.

Pulling the motor just makes it so much easier.

You are only just down the road.

Get on the turnpike and bring it over and we will show you how to do it in one day.

I'm afraid that's a 7 hr drive. I think myself and a friend of mine can do it. Just need to know if I need any special tools and shims I will need? I sure do appreciate the offer though. If you were a little closer or I had more time I would take you up on it. Do you know of any vrodders closer to me?

Thanks for everything on here guys. Since my mechanic put me off for two weeks I'm going to put the cams in myself. I've gotten a lot of info from people on here and one member was gracious enough to send a complete stranger his expensive tools that I'll need for the job. Everything I need is here except my shims and tuner. My tracking on the shims says they're at the local post office and will be in hand today. I also will be putting on that awesome ground pounder exhaust that I've had sitting in an unopened box for about 3 wks now. I'll keep you posted on the install. Thanks again.

Lots of big shims required.. Smallest we used on mine was a 280.. Lots of timing marks to get aligned also.. Pulling motor is def a lot easier for the install... Id think about RSC offer...
