I have a 2006 vrscd and I am looking for a new exhaust. I like the thunderheader but I am looking for opinions on other options. Loud is great but what are some other choices that give that muscle car sound I crave? Not interested in the potato sound, just want a nice roar :)

You may want to start with Vmoding the original cans and adding a fuel manager such as a PCV. The vmoded cans have a nice deep throaty sound and it is a really cheap mod to perform. (See How to section.) If it is not enough they you can always replace the pipes later on after you have heard a few others. Exhaust note is so subjective it is really hard, even with a camera, to capture the sound a feeling of one particular exhaust over another.

Hmmm. at idle? Bub Jug Huggers or Bub 7 2 into 1. In flight? The long Vance and Hines 2 into 1, Supertrapp slip ons, or Supertrapp V5... Just my opinion. The louder pipes remind me of a skill saw cutting through metal when you are on the highway passing cars... The quieter ones are really tame at idle and sing at higher rpms... Like I said, just my opinion, but I have owned each of the pipes listed above plus the rinehart 2 into 1 and the CFR (didn't care for these 2).

check youtube uploads....
I get it...."no tater sound in Idaho"

How long have you had the bike? If you havent had it long or been out with other VRod's a lot I would suggest holding off for a bit. I went through 3 sets of pipes in less than a year before I found the ones I liked..... There is so much to choose from. Try to hear as many differrent ones as you can. Also look for things like leg and road clearance...burning your legs or scraping the pipes a lot is no fun.

I'm sure you'll get as many answers as there are exhaust systems...CFR, BUB, V&H, Toxic, V-Mod, etc...bronsondant1 makes a good point, but also examine looks vs horse power loss/gain.

My Rineharts sound good, just a little loud.

I like the looks of the Bassani with the short muffler. Anybody have any experience with that one? The V&H pipes, jughuggers and v-mods are all too loud to suit me.

Been riding it a few years. I have cherry bomb glass packs on their now. Great sound but just not meaty enough for my tastes.

I love the sound of my Trask spin muffler. It's a bit pricey though. :)

Thanks for the replies folks... Gotta admit I like the look and price of that big rig. Still have a couple months before I get the $$$ to spend so I apreciate the tips on where to look.

I personally like my CFR exhaust...but i have to wear ear plugs with it.... Its extremely loud and obnoxious which is what i was going for.

The bub 2 into 1 or rhinehart 2 into 1 were my first choice but more money then i wanted to spend. My father has a 08 AW with the v-modded exhaust and i love the way it sounds.

I suggest sitting on youtube for a few weeks listening to exhaust sound clips.. thats what i did and it worked for me.

I've had 4 exhausts, V&H, Tab, Stock and Screaming Eagle and I think the screaming eagle sound the best. Just my opinion.
:them: If you can find a set the Screaming Eagle pipes did have a deep burble that resonated the sounds of the Revo engine unlike any other pipe I have heard.
