All,

I have an 03 VRSCA. Recently when putting on some new wheels, I noticed some belt damage. I purchased a belt (149 tooth) from another member here on the forum as a replacement. Today I was installing the new belt and had some trouble. The eccentrics were much tighter than before. I did a quick count and it looks like my old belt was 150 tooth and the new belt was a 149 tooth belt. Should I not use the 149 tooth belt and search for another 150? I didnt realize there was a difference. Thoughts

Your are correct it will put additional tension on eccentrics but it still my be able to be used. Question are you able to clear them enough to tighten them down? What the size of your front and rear sprockets? Button line you might wait to go with the 150 belt. Good luck with your decision!

I could get the belt tension within spec but the eccentrics are barely engaged with the swingarm. Bummer is I dont feel comfortable with the way the eccentrics are nearly parallel. Anyone want to buy a 149 tooth belt?

I should have counted the teeth before I made the purchase. bummer.

It can be used ...

Make sure the tension is correct or you can put undue stress on the outputshaft and cause the seal to go bad.

oil all over then.

Jarhead88,

I have a 2003 A model and could use a 149 tooth belt (been wanting to get a Fitzgerald 26 tooth front pulley). I live in South Riding, VA (West of Chantilly). Let me know and I can swing by. Happy to ride when you get your bike road ready.

Sounds good. Belt is in excellent shape. Ill let it go for what I paid another forum member for it if you want. Ill even deliver. I live in Gainesville. I just went and purchased a 150T belt off of eBay. Ill PM you.

Okay used belt from eBay arrived tonight and I slapped that bad boy on. I had a hell of a time getting the 149 tooth belt off because it was too tight to begin with. Anyway, after getting the belt installed and the deflection set I took her for a test ride. Ran like a top. The new wheels (which is why I started this whole mess) made the bike feel so much lighter up front. They are stock wheels that were machined and powdercoated. They look awesome too. I will post a pic tomorrow. Thanks guys.
