New cameleon painted skins

I have been busy. I pulled off the grey skins that I put on after my carbon fiber 3 M wrap disaster. I got some new used pieces from ebay and a short fender from exotic parts in primer . The short fender lined up 90 % out of the box so be ready if you buy one to drill the holes wider and put on large diameter washers . I used the LED from harbor freight for $ 12 instead of the one from exotic for $ 85 and even stuck a bright strobe that I snaked beneath the seat for a "third eye". Also got a VRSCDX airbox and some other year front fender and bracket. My first experiment with a compressor spray gun. "Hole shot" is the name of the color and it turns from a yellowish brass color through a purple pink to a orange red. You can catch some of that with the pictures but it depends on how the light hits it. The paint came off ebay also if any one is looking to give it a try. The vrod parts fenders air box and side covers used about 1/2 of the paint they sent for covering a bike. Total cost paint 150 + fender 100 + airbox side covers front fender lights and ginger bread silver trim 100 = 350. my discounted labor cost 0 .

ZUCKER, bike looks good, I like what ya did to the forks. Where did you get the material from?

Killed myself mounting new tires, the front wasn't too bad, but the rear....what a pain in the a$$!!! Next time taking the rear to the local shop, just not worth the fustration and back ache to save a few bucks doing it yourself.

carbon fiber 3m dinoc

That's the 3m carbon fiber wrap. (ie --> http://www.ebay.com/itm/3M-DiNoc-Ca.../220892352140?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item336e35ce8c)
Very easy to do. You cut it to size. Line it up with the seam to the back. Wipe the fork with alcohol. Then pull off the backing and wrap it around while holding a hair drier on low. Pull it off and put it back until you get it exactly right. The flat surface makes the vinyl wrap sit really flat and with the hair drier you can work the air bubble that get caught within a few minutes. I tried wrapping the entire bike and it looked like crap. I left the pieces on the forks as that came out good. I have used odds and ends on other stuff like my iphone.

Went ahead and did the RTV deal on my Stator Grommet (waiting for backordered Stator).. Hopefully that will buy me enough time until the replacement comes in. Cleaned the bike up while waiting for the RTV to cure (bottle says 24 hours)... Tomorrow, replenish the Oil and do a quick test ride..

Went hunting for an airbrush guy today to personalize my new airbox lid (another Franklin wicked)...

Since I am in South beach I called the Lovely Mercedes to ask her if it was still in the driveway because I forgot to put it in the garage when I left, she saidnitvwas fine and the dog is wonderful.

You also left some ripe tomatoes on the vine...

Installed my Pondo Derby cover (only had it 3 months, after I had it chromed/painted) and Joker's shift linkage... Then went thru the systems making sure it's roadworthy in preparation for a lil road test tomorrow :D :moped:
Greetings from Perth Western Australia. Where sir did you get that derby cover please? Are there more available? Cost is no object!

Had to do some minor repair work on my Radiator Chin Spoiler (HD part # 57621-06DH) .. The piece of crap factory glue job that holds the metal lip to the fiberglass came apart.. My solution, 2 screws from the inside out that go thru the fiberglass radiator shroud, through the metal lip and into the painted Chin Spoiler (I used half inch screws)..

Then for shits/grins, I tried to mount the Chrome Voltage Regulator Cover (HD part # 74497-03) .. Both parts listed on the web site say that you can only do one or the other.. Mine fit (just barely). (Not sure why the attached pic was rotated 90 degrees, original is not that way).

The only downside that I can see is that I have to remove the Chrome Voltage Regulator cover before I can remove the Radiator cover (not really that big of a deal for me)..

Did a brief test ride and didn't see any issues with that or my temp Stator Grommet fix (RTV) appears to be working for now (until I can get the replacement in)..
