Putting my near stock 08 D on the dyno this Saturday. Just doing a few pulls to check the AFR after gutting the stock cans. What do you all think it will produce? And do you think the AFR will be lean (running Xied's)? I've never seen a dyno sheet from a stock ECM, I'm very curious to see what it does, and to see how accurate the switching sensors are.

98 to 105 HP and 69 to 76 Torque.

You have O2 sensors the AFR should be EPA lean but not drastically so.

Since you are getting the Dyno I'd check on how much extra to tune it with a SERT or PCV.

Kens numbers are close to what it should be but as we all know, different dyno, different tuner, different day.......different numbers. Just make sure the graph is a nice line and the A/f is right and forget what the numbers are.
And yes you will absolutely be on the leaner side. They are a bit towards lean from the factory and gutting the pipes will lean it out more yet. A re-tune is not only necessary but would actually benefit this engine even without mods. I prefer to remap the stock fuel management (sert - serpt) rather than use a peripheral tuner that's piggybacked to the system.

These are not the "fastest" ECM's going. The switching sensors will feed the ECM data, as fast as the ECM can handle the input - as far as "accuracy" goes. They tend to be either "working or broken".

SEPST - the VCI module that marries/talks to your ECM MSRP's for $459, which means our usual 20%-off friends can get it to you for around $370. Most HD shops (around here at least) get around $325 for a dyno tune - which, depending on your mod level can be a DEAL - I know we spent about 5 hours on my tune, and that wasn't on WOT, but on mapping all the "cruise ranges" correctly. Revo's are more time consuming to tune than Airheads.

Most tuners will map cruise for the "factory spec target AFR" (14.3 I believe), though you can TELL THEM to map for any AFR you want, and the ECM can be SET for that target.

My stock 2010 made 120hp and 82ft/lbs on the dyno at my local Harley shop, but like said different dyno, different day, different numbers. Definately needs tuned if you gutted the stock mufflers. Hows it sound now though?
I am getting a set of TAB turnouts next week and a V&H FuelPak, gonna set it up per V&H website and then get a dyno run in so I know its where the AFR should be.

Thats brake(fly wheel) hp,dyno hp is measured at the rear wheel so deduct 15 to 17% for drive train losses. My 2007 1130 put out 98hp with the 240 rim plus the v-mod and I still think it's a couple hp happy. The wide tire probably sucks up around 5hp.It also looks like they copied Harley's specs .

120 hp stock isn't realistic. Not at the rear wheel. My 2012 made 114hp and 77tq at the rear wheel and that's with V&H exhaust and a k&n and a good tune. The specs in that article are the same as Harley's which are measured at the crank.

You arent that far away, they are having a dyno shootout at SE Harley April 14th, bring yours up and lets see how much different yours is compaired to the dyno in DSM.

Here is the actual dyno sheet. I am just saying, this is what their dyno said. The dyno at your local shop will probably be different, but whos is correct? Nobody knows...

I hear what your saying. I didn't know they did a shoot out at se Harley. I may have to check that out.

you are right about different dyno`s... a stock 1250 on our dyno won`t make over 102 or 103... even a good pipe and tune is in the 116 to 118 range... in the houston area there are dynos that show as much as 20% more hp than ours... ours was calibrated by technicians from superflow .. i could go out in the dyno room and change a couple of settings and presto i could show any hp number i like... just air up a tire if it is under 20lbs can change the dyno reading 9hp...i was tuning a big twin one time and i pulled up the chart after the first hp run and it showed almost 900hp.. i was impressed until i found that the load cell calibration had gone nuts for some reason.. if i had given the bikes owner that dyno chart he would have been impressed with my tuning abilities..

Sounds really good, a bit too loud though. I'm going to make a few changes to the stock baffles and weld them back in.

Yep, every April before riding season starts they do a shootout. It would be great if you could make it up, I needs me some competition, there arent many V-Rods in this area, of the group I ride in there is mine and 1 other (the other is a 04 or 05 1130 bike)

See, thats where alot of people do not understand the whole dyno concept. I went through MMI in Phoenix and took Dynojet as part of the import electives, while doing so the instructor warned/showed us correct ways to run the bikes on the dyno and what happens if it isnt done right.

The brand of dyno also makes a big difference. Superflow dynos do show lower numbers than Dynojet dynos and probably why they showed my stock bike at 120hp.

The results are in. 112HP, 80lbs of torque. Top on, stock air filter, gutted exhaust, and Xied's.
The fellow running the dyno was very surprised, only one other V-Rod had pulled that on his dyno, that one was tuned with a PC-V.

He's going to email me the sheet, his printer was dead.

only a bit off, compared.Average numbers on a stock 1250 engine with a filter and virgin exhaust is 115 and 83 ft lbs
