I'm likely going to be having the exhaust changed out but concerned with the new sound. What I mean is...I don't particularly care for the ear piercing snappy popping from traditional harleys. Is this what I should expect with the Muscle Vance & Hines slip ons? I come from owning a Ducati with aftermarket Termignoni exhaust which sounds unbelievable. Deep growl almost like a top fuel car. I prefer that to pap pap pap pap....etc.

Thx.

I have a buddy with a carbd fatboy with tons of work done to it pipes..etc.etc. His bike has that traditional HD blub..blub.blub sound, (I love that sound by the way) When we rode together, I was surprised at how different our bikes sounded. I have tabs on my F w/2.5 inch baffels, from which I understand are a bit louder than the VnH slips. I think you will be surprised, and pleased with the sound the F puts out. I find it has a crisper, racier tone than the other piped air heads I have run across.

I was hoping someone would say that. Thx. I'll be getting them for the summer.

I was looking at a pipe upgrade and was under the impression the tab pipes sounded more like traditional HD while both vance hines slips and 2-1 just made the stock sound have some deep nuts to it.

Hard to describe sound. I have v&h slip ons and I like the sound but it has a tone of it's own, especially when u get on it. It doesn't have the potato- potato sound of the standard Harley twin. I think you'll be pleased with the aggressive growl of the vrscf. The v&h ara little loud for me but overall I like them.

Koza.... I didn't notice how different the sound was till we had a chance to ride together. Those youtube vids rep the sound very well, and give you an idea of the raciness to the tone. Another F owner I ran into on the road switched from the tabs to the VnH's, and said that the VnH's seemed more muffled than the tabs which follows along with you have heard but there is no comparison between piped aircooled motor and ours. I believe both sound great mind you, just different.

I like the V&H slip ons on my bike
They sound quite sporty and nothing like a traditional HD
Mind you I've never heard an aircooled HD at 9000rpms :D

I have heard both the V&H and the Tabs (newer versions with the 2.00 Baffles) both sound great. The V&H sound a bit more aggressive and blatty wheras the Tab sound a bit more mellow and slightly quieter. Still loud enough to want to wear earplugs thou !

A bit off topic but I have a question on the V&H comp slip-ons. I put a set on and have about 400 miles on them but I have an exhaust leak, I tried to reseat them with little sucess. Think I will pull them all the way off and try to reinstall, any tips to make sure I get them fully seated?

I have the V&H slip-ons on my muscle and like the sound very well. I feel the Tab's have the more blatty sound, personally. I did get the insert additional baffle for my V&H's though. It mellows the sound and reduces the overall loudness 3-4 db's. Whatever you decide though, you won't get that traditional Harley sound as they don't fire the same. Different angle on the V. V-rods sound more like what you are describing you want. The top fuel sound, v-8 sound.

If anyone is looking for a totally different sound besides the TABs or V&H slipons, try a 2 into 1 system. I have a 2nd GEN Vance & Hines Indy (I think the 2 into 1s are on about GEN 5 now). My wife has V&H slipons on her F-model and I can't even hear her's next to my DX. It's almost to the point that even I think they're obnoxious......almost :D

I love this pipe! It's giving me permanent tinnitus, but I'll be damned if I'm taking it off.

I just installed the "quiet" baffle packing (V&H part number 16108 ) and the "quiet" baffle insert (V&H part number 7-60093). V&H told me it would make the pipe maybe 5db quieter. Meh - worth a try.

It is noticeably quieter - more of a solid rumble now (but my previous glass packing was burnt to a crisp, so bad reference). It sounds flippin awesome with the quiet goods installed. It doesn't make my head ring inside my helmet.

However...twist the throttle and it speaks right up!!

The quiet baffle attachment and packing can be installed on the V&H slipons or the competition 2 to 1.

it might just be me but i have always liked the stock exhaust "look" compared to 2 into 1. It reminds me of a dual exhaust hot rod. i also think the positioning of the stocks makes the bike "appear" lower from behind the bike. On all my other bikes the reason for swapping them out was always performance and of course weight (which is also performance related) but like i said i think its just me.

Sidenote: last night on took the right side exhaust off to get to the axle nut and those cans sure are heavy,,,,,, so maybe a switch is needed, lol

I will also get a set of the additional baffles when I get the V&H's for the additional option. I talked to the someone at V&H's and said that it is about a 2 dB difference between baffle/no baffle. This doesn't sound like very much to me but I havn't been able to compare. So here is the question....since you have them is this dB drop very noticible? ie, if I get pulled over for having loud pipes, put in the baffles, then it would be ok? thx.

V & H slipons-very pro-stock sounding, and I like the dual look too.
