Has anyone here done an air breather hose bypass or mod. on their 1250, if so, any issues, recommendations or photos would be appreciated.

I've seen some sort of filters plugged to each hose in the air box, what kind are they, do they work well?

Thanks

Hey zaatarnightrod,

I did it on my 1130. Should be the same.
I had the little filters at first but they would get completely saturated with oil. I wasn't happy with that solution. So I decided to do something else. I used a hose to re-route the air breather and bypass the catch can in the filter base.

See my thread 'Winter Mods Part II' in the VRSCD section. I discussed what I did and have pics.

Good luck.

Thanks NightRoder, It looks like a nice clean cut solution.

I'm going to try Amsoil first (hopefully evaporate less than Syn3) and see if less oil makes it into the airbox, but your bypass is probably going to be my next step.

Hopefully see you on the road one day.

who sells this filter set-up?

For 2 years now I have had mine routed to come out the bottom of the bike. Had to get a longer hose of course. Just breathes out to the ground, no filter thing. This has been the best solution of all I tried.

Do you get the traditional HD oil spot on the ground when you park? :stilpoke: :)

I picked up one of those small filters from AutoZone and a plastic tee from the hardware store. I ran this setup all last year and I'm very pleased with it.

Looks nice. I did the same but used different filters, uniflo filters.... I like how it runs...

There is someone on this board that sells this as a set:
2- 1" Velocity stacks
2- K&N RX-4010 filters
1- Bypass filter

set-up kit is about $140.00 or something like that, can't remember his company...

I have a Ram-air air cover

as you can see the deep conclaved slop which limits the height of the stock set-up. (I had both my velocity stacks machined down and made a custom cover for the top of my single piece K&N filter. With the air vents, makes it a bitch to wash, well actually rinse w/o filling area with water. This dual set-up I could easily cover the filters and the water would now not get trapped on the bottom tray of the stock inner air filter tray...also easier to get to spark plugs.

I have the JEillusions Ram airbox cover also, the set up works great for this, as it is quite sunk in!!!

What is that tiny hose on the left side for? Thats a cool setup, I was just wondering what that small hose does and if I could just get the 2 K&N's and put them on the stacks.

That's for the crank case ventilation

Is there one on the bike stock or is that an add-on?
