Hey gang, was just lookin for some help /info on turbo kits for the Vrod. i did a search and it didn't really net the answers I was lookin for.
This is goin back a few years, but rode a friends 80 inch Heritage that had the Aerocharger unit on it and was pretty impressed. I'am seriously considering doing a turbo on my 08 Vrod. Stock motor, want to run boost on the conservative side, lookin for the most reliable bang for the buck kit, but don't know where to turn. I love turbo vehicles, had a Buick Grand National And an SRT4 that rock.Would love to turbo my bike.Any help or info would be appreciated.
Thanks

Talk to either Max on here or Nick at www.turboyourharley.com

Those of us here that have turbos are running the Trask set up and you'll find many happy campers.

Not to mention there is a great deal in the classifieds right now on one.....
Excellent deal!

I also have the Trask Turbo and I have to say that it is a very well designed kit. The after sale support from trask is also 1st class.

8 hours or so. I took my time and finshed in a day

I did extensive research and it came down to the TRASK and I am very happy with it, 12,000 trouble free miles and I am still smiling. I had issues with the pipe as well but it is actually a work of art that really compliments the bike so well!!

Good to hear that many trouble free miles. The pipe looks cool but unless there is an alternative, it is a big sticking point for me. to each is own, but i just don't like the pipe exiting right beside me. I've had similar set ups and i found the noise to get tiresome after long rides right beside my ear.

You'll find the turbo is quieter than most after market exhaust. I have about 20.000 miles on my turbo and love it.

That link I posted for you is a deal and it comes with the innercooler and boost guage too.

Interesting, so is the pipe a straight pipe or have a baffle of some kind? Is there a sweet sounding "whine" to the turbo or mellow?

The pipe that comes with the turbo does not have a baffle in it, the turbo muffles the sound quite abit and it has it's own unique sound. And yes you can hear the whine just alittle when your going through town by some parked cars, idleing, etc.

Turbo makes a nice whistle, blow off valve sounds great also when you get off the throttle

I got a chance to see a Aerocharger in person today, and not a very good 1st impression at all. The turbo's boost got stuck and the fins came off the impeller. The guys where hoping the engines is ok and they are still waiting on a replacement turbo.

I know my Trask Turbo has been nothing but great over the last 20.000 miles, so when you decide to get a turbo please do your home work. :deal: Buy a system thats proven and doesn't fly apart when pushed.

Hey VrodG,

I've purchased a Trask Turbo for my 06 NightRod but after looking at a bunch of different pictures I've been able to hunt up on the internet, I'm concerned about the position of the exhaust pipe. It looks to be awfully close to the mid-mounted controls on my bike. Do you have mid-controls? If so, have you had any issues with the pipe (translate issues to toasted pants/boots or too much heat)?

Thanks!
