I have tore my 03 down to the bare frame, the only prob im having is i cant figure out how-in-the-hell to get the Fork Lock out. Has anyone removed one before??? PLEASE HELP!! I have got to get this lock out before i can sand blast & powder coat the frame. Thanks, Thomas.:banghead:

I'm assuming you don't have the service manual so I'll try to do this from memory since I don't have the manual at work with me: You need to put the key in the lock, Then look through the hole/notch (half moon shaped) which I believe is on the bottom of the frame (under the lock) and when you rotate the key between the locked and unlocked position you will see a place to stick a jewelers screw drive and release the lock mechanism. Then just pull on the key and the lock should slide out.....Be warned it's been a while since of done this but this should give you a general idea of what you need to do.

Fork Lock
A month ago I also removed my frame (I am having it chromed). The following is the instruction from Page 2-85 of the 2003 service manual as to how to remove the fork lock.
1. Insert your key into the fork lock
2. Turn key 1/2 way
3. Using a thin tool, press in the rotating pin
4. While pressing in the rotating pin, push up from the bottom until the plunger holds in the rotation pin
5. At the same time use the key in the lock to pull the tumbler out.

I removed mine when I had the triple clamps off to replaced with chrome ones and replace neck bearings. Just a tip to add to the others comments, shoot some aerosol cleaner into the half circular opening on the side. This will clean out any grease or dirt build up so you can see the parts mentioned above.
