I was quoted ÂŁ562.82 for the Indy Pipe, ÂŁ34.99 for the baffle and $299.63 for the PCIII. That makes a grand total of ÂŁ897.44 as opposed to the ÂŁ660 I paid from the US.

Can't wait to get it on my bike now.
Did you get stung with Import Duty and VAT on top or did you get away with that?? Remember the UK price is actually ÂŁ510 plus VAT add ÂŁ150 for a PCIII from the US.

It's the VAT that's the kicker not to mention the RRP being quoted on the PCIII which is half that in the US! You can get them cheaper over here but I haven't seen them cheaper than ÂŁ235

I asked Zorstec in Shipley about a 2 into 1 exhaust for my Night Rod. This is the reply:

Can't believe the Foundry weren't prepared to make a little less profit on the new SERT that they were gonna fit with everything else I had ordered. Don't understand a business that will turn down an easy ÂŁ75 profit which meant them only making (so they say) 15%? I could understand it on a cheaper item but this retails in the UK at ÂŁ570! Their loss, 100% of nothing.

I just ordered the PCIII USB, will put the SERT on when they arrive seperatly and maybe sell the PCIII. The PCIII has a proper map from V&H so it may be the better way to go anyway! Still worked out cheaper buying the SERT and PCIII that buying the SERT from The Foundry? HD really have to sort out the US price difference and dealers have got to learn to offer proper discounts like they do in the US!

:soapbox:
totally agree!!how can hd justify charging us double the price for their aftermarket parts.when the dollar was 1.60 to pound not too long back the the parts were still double now its closer to 2 $ to the ÂŁ why havn't the prices come down.as for the dealers if people like us bought our stuff direct from the states and stopped buying from them they would have to sell them cheaper.i wonder if the european countries get ripped off the same?

The biggest kicker is that some dealers in the US will knock a further 20% off US RRP which totally blows the argument that Duty and VAT have to be paid in Europe so that makes it more expensive. Duty on bike parts is 3.5% and VAT 17.5% in the UK. I understand that the europeans pay the same price even though their VAT rates vary considerably. The lower $ rate just means more profit for HD! What goes around.....

I just got an email back from www.proven-products.co.uk

They will do a pair of Remus slip-ons for ÂŁ475, has anyone used these before?
I've got some stock 1989 1200 Sporty pipes that look like that, though no interconnecting pipe.
Only ÂŁ30 off ebay.

:hidesbeh:

Probably not then, that's just the picture they sent back with the email.
How easy/expensive is it to get some slip-ons sent from the US then? I've never had to buy anything from overseas before

Tab

Got in touch with TAB a few weeks back and got this reply about shipping,

The price is as follows for the Street Rod: pipes $199, fuel tuner $199(normally $259), Hi Flo air filter $59, and shipping the UK $80.

Thanks,

Todd

Not bad with the exchange rate, considering i saw a bloke trying to sell the same setup second hand with a reserve of ÂŁ500 on ebay.

That's good, so thats only like less than ÂŁ300. How much do you have to pay when they reach UK Customs?
I've got away with the customs charges for the last few lots of stuff i've bought
but its supposed to be 4% import duty on motorcycle parts plus 17.5% VAT , plus you'll probably get a 'Handling Charge' from the PO as well.

Steve

not a clue i have never ordered from the US but i am sure someone will know.
???????????

Ok got the answer whilst i was typing. Cheers, i guess its hit and miss if you get the charges or not. The last time i ordered some tablets for the wife from the states, it had a description on the outside of the package stating it was tea samples or something, i guess thats how we got away with the extra charges.

have a look in my gallery the pipes i am running at the the moment are car end tips from summit racing ÂŁ70 for the pair i then had a local guy make the tips on the end.the the cans come in various lengths and styles.you need
2 1/2"dia. at the inlet end.few other things you might find useful if you decide to get them.i have mentioned this before a while back but similiar end cans from Force cost around $400 and are only mild steel tack welded together again if you look in my gallery i had them when i first got my bike one fell in half after 100 miles.the summit ones are extruded stainless
