I totally agree. You have to ride what makes you happy. Some like a porsche, some like a BMW and some like a suzuki. Oh and some like a porseche-davidson. Get the one you will ride. If you don't like riding it then it becomes a dust magnet and extra expense with no benefit.

here's one that more matches yours!!
Jackalope, get on each one and test ride,IMHO,they are BOTH great bikes.

That thing just looks like a chunk. It's a good looking chunk but a chunk all the same. It's like comparing a fast clydesdale to a thoroughbred.

I'm kinda scared to post this. As a noob, you guys may flame hell out of me for even bringing it up.

But I have to ask, other than the Harley name, mystique and brotherhood that goes with it (and VRSC owners are kinda the black sheep there anyway), what's the real advantage of a VRSC over a Suzuki M109? They even now offer the C109 for the bagger set. They run with the VRSC and they cost less.

So why go Harley?

The biggest problem I see with tat website is the $12k price when the Vrod is $19.5. I could see that as a deciding factor for someone not carring about the HD Mystic (or do what I did and get a used one for $11k)

I got my 06D brand new out of the crate for under 13K.

You can pick up a VRSCDX for 16K right now. So comparing the two there is a 3K difference for new bikes.

But like everyone else has said, test ride both and then make your decision.

I was at a local Suzuki/Yamaha dealer picking up parts for my buddy (he has an Intruder), and when I pulled in, I walked in the door and everybody was looking out the window at my bike... take that as you will ;)

As far as price - I picked up an 03 in perfect shape from this forum for $12,000. It had pretty much everything you can think of done - wheels, exhaust, chrome bits, etc. - and 4000 miles on it. Add $500 for the Ricks tank, $325 for keyless ignition, and a few dollars for other odds and ends I've changed, and I have $13,000 in my bike. Sure, you can get a new 109 for that price, but, I can guarantee you, at least in looks and the "oooh-aaah" factor of telling people you have a V-Rod, there is no comparison.

maybe it depends on the riding you will do...ride them both. i personally think the 109 is the uglyest bike made . im on my 2nd vrod and i can say i would be amazed if you rode both back to back relitive close in time the chioce would be clear. plenty of good deals on used v's out there just look here for great examples. come to the dark side...........:notworth: DX

if it is a money issue the Suzuki wins if it is the name Harley does, best if you ride them and buy the one you like te best.

I've always wondered what the exact definition of Lux's word "Glompy" was until this pic. Mystery solved. That thing looks like a tank no matter how you dress it up. To me, everything on the bike just screams "unnecessarily heavy"

Look ,ride ,get the feel and handling, and gearing with power ! Then each ride you get a smile ear to ear ! It gets in your blood and there is no turning back ! V Rods grow on you and become part of you and custom it to make it yours and pride and peace forever !

Although I have owned several Harleys, I have very little love for the MOCO. Most of this ill will is because of their dealer network. That being said, the first time I test drove a VROD, I rode it around for about 20 miles to a Suzuki/Yamaha dealer. There I took out a M109. WOW. What a difference. The first corner on the M actually felt scary after the confidence instilled on the VROD. 2 totally different animals. Made my decision easy and definite.

However, it is your money. Test ride both. Forget looks, forget dollars, buy the one that you will feel comfortable riding. See you back here soon when you are asking how to mod something on your new V.

BTW. In retrospect, I should have ridden the M to the Harley dealer, maybe I could have gotten a better deal on the bike I wanted.

when I sat one a 109r I felt like I was on a 55 gallon drum, and I am by no means a small person.

you really gotta ask?

one of my friends is looking for a bike , we went to the HD dealer and then suzuki , one thing he said is the Harley feels better built . I dont mean that it will last longer or retain its value more but the suzuki has everything plastic on it where as the harley had steel . It is heavier but it feels sturdier.

Aslo he told his brother that he was looking at a bike and he said I hope you are getting a harley , he said prob not , he said my dream always was to get a harley . Now I have had Suzuki's, yamaha's in the past and there is something different about owning a harley . I have never heard anyone say " When I get older I want to save up and get a honda"

A friend and myself were talking and someone overheard us and said oh you both have bikes , me too . What do you have , I said I have a harley and the othe guy said Oh you dont want to know what mine is then . He has a kawi and I am not one of the guys that say other bikes are crap but even he is embarassed about his next to a harley .
My dx gets complements and thumbs up every time I go out .

If money is an issue that the japs bikes are great but there is a difference somewhere . Hey in the end we all ride bikes and that is what matters most
