It depends what the mounting kit is and is it necessary?

Why is it so expensive? Because moco knows a lot of people aren't aware of all the aftermarket stuff available for their bikes, so the gouge you left and right, hoping you'll never find a cheaper and better (in some cases) alternative to their overpriced stuff.

Ofcourse, I could just be talking out of my ass, and the stuff is so expensive because it has the little HD logo on the package. :D

This may be true. Is Ducati still owned by Ferrari?

As for the prices some of their stuff is expensive others things are reasonable, some official jap parts are more expensive. Things like fork braces made by Kuraykyn are more epensive when in the HD packaging, than the original K part.

Harley motorcycles are so dirt cheap that the MOCO has to charge high prices on the little things to stay on the Fortune 500 list. :rofl2:

Expensive? You never walked into a Ducati Dealership.
No doubt!!!

Hate to be the voice of dissension but the prices are higher because of a generally higher quality. After seeing how some of the aftermarket parts hold up compared to H-D parts it isn’t even close. I won’t signal any one company out but I quite often see parts from one specific aftermarket company with a name that rhymes with Ruryaken and I constantly find electrical problems with brake modulators, chrome peeling, rubber missing from footpegs or grips etc. It’s tough to reverse engineer something and make it better. :2cents:

Harley has no problem selling their aftermarket "bling" to the airhead group, so why change?
