I received some birthday bucks to blow on the 'Rod. I hauled butt straight to the local dealership here in York PA. I was looking for accessories that would fit an '07AW, everything they had on the rack, (which was embarrassing little) would fit older bikes, when I questioned the sales rep behind the counter I get the standard "We can order that for you". I don't want to wait on them to order anything. I've done it in the past and it takes forever to come in.

I don't plan on ever returning to that dealership again, I'll go to Lancaster or Gettysburg before I drop a dime in York. (their selections are marginally better at best!)

Has anyone found a dealership that stocks a good variety of accessories for our bikes? Are we better off catalog shopping? On-line shopping?

I would be interested in seeing what others have experienced in this matter.

online shopping :thumb:

not many dealers will have stuff in stock that doesn't sell well. I'd bet if the sales of the Vrod go up then so will the amount of accessories they have in stock.

I agree -- have yet to see much at the dealers visited including some of the big guys like Hale's. To add insult to injury, my coworker, who rides a Sportster, brought in a nice HD holiday accessory catalog. All the airheads and their accessories were included -- but not one V-Rod. I'm feeling just a little left out, and the fact that accessories for my R are scarce anyway, makes it even worse.

Not much at my dealership in Raleigh, NC :( :banghead:

I do a lot of traveling and always make a point to stop in the local hd shop, tring to find any decent parts that arnt multi-fit is near impossible. I've even been to destination-daytona shop and compared to the soft-tail/dyna selection its like comparing shopping at a 7-11 to a super wal-mart

It's all about supply and demand. If they sold more Vrod parts they would carry more parts. They're in business to make money and stocking parts that just sit on a shelf and collect dust doesn't make them money.

I keep putting sportster parts on my V-rod. Works great for me.

Nothing at the Tri-Cities or Yakima, Wa dealerships. Online shopping for me.

when i bought my R i went nuts at reno harley davidson (cause i left on a roadtrip the same day i bought my bike) and they had everything i wanted, which means they had a lot more than i could afford but i spent it anyway and got what i wanted without problem, they even had a couple v-rods i put the parts on to see if i liked it...

Here locally in Albuquerque hardly any V Rod parts are on the shelves. Plus owning a Night rod all the parts they do have are in chrome. Nothing is in black. So, what I do buy I'm having to sand the chrome off and spray the parts black. It's looking pretty good though.
I hear Chicago HD will sell accessories at 10% off list price no tax just the freight charges you pay.

Accessories

I got your site from from of your members who bought one of our stainless steel bolt kits for his 03' V-Rod. He said I should put the word out to you guys about our kits. We carry polished kits where the heads have been highly shined and still have the stamps on them and show polished kits where we have removed the letters and forging marks and polished them to a mirror finish. The finish doesn't fade, chip or crack. We have kits for the calipers and rotors as well. We have kits for the covers and for the entire bike. I just wanted to put that out there for you guys to check out. Hit our site at www.alloyboltz.com and check things out.

I hope to hear from some of you.

I've been in Harley stealerships from VA. to GA. and pretty much the same items on the wall if any V-Rod accessaries at all. Zanotti's or Hales is your best bet. Sonmetimes you can get lucky on Flebay.

Hell I couldn't find a dealership in the Houston area that had a replacement stock clutch lever... had to order it. Apparently they change small details from year to year which makes it that much harder to stock parts.

I've been looking at a tallboy seat for my 07 Nightrod for over a year, but that's all I can do...look, because it's not even made for the 07 model year...oh, and of course it's not in the VRSC seat collection kiosk at my dealership. Ha!
