I've been sitting on the fence for a long time, just reading posts and thought I would take the time to say "hello" and introduce myself to all. This is the first thread I've ever started so I hope everyone will be nice.
I started riding recently, and am not your typical HD owner. I was more into speed and power, just like Mr. Scott from the old Star Trek series..."I've got to have more power". So I started with cars, and went from an old 300ZX, and progressed through an old Porsche 911, Corvette, 993, and a 993 twin turbo. I was sitting in rush hour LA traffic, and finally noticed guys on two wheels splitting lanes happily to their destinations. I thought they're just as fast, its cheaper, and I don't ever have to worry about traffic. So I went to two wheels...started with a ZX 6R, went to a GSXR 1000(which was nice until the engine blew up), settled into an R1 and did the sport bike thing...doing the Superbike school classes at the track and used it as a daily driver to work...now I was the one splitting lanes. But I've always wanted something more.
A good friend of mine who owns 4 Harleys bought an '02 vrod with his dad when it first came out. When I saw it, I always thought it was a beautiful bike even though I was doing sportbikes at the time. I told him to call me if he ever wanted to sell it. His dad later wanted to sell it because of health problems and the rest is history. Even though the design is not as new as the bikes some of you guys have, I still love it and as you can tell, keeping in line with my need for more power...went with a turbo and love it even more.
