Bike rode fine end of last year, pulled it out last week as I have been away, started perfectly but when I pull the clutch and drop it into 1st it sounds like I am about to break the basket…it goes in but with a bang. It doesnt drag or anything when its in but man, its bad. Is there an adjustment?

No adjustment. Sounds like a clutch issue. The clutch is not releasing properly. A number of issues could be the problem. Dirty fluid ,Clutch Master cylinder, slave cylinder. If the fluid is clean. Then you may have a clutch problem. How does the clutch lever feel? If fluid is dirty, the clutch master cylinder could be plugged. Check these first before blaming clutch. You may need to flush system.

Another thing that happens is clutch plates can stick together since it's been sitting - even a little can make the clutch drag just enough to make the gear shift clunk in so take it out, crank it up, warm it up and slip the clutch a bit in gear to heat the plates and clean them off, ride it and see if it clears up a bit then change your oil - make absolutely sure you use oil rated for motorcycles that's " wet clutch compatible " bc car oil has friction modifiers in it that can make your clutch slip over time - (y)
