I wouldn't for a second consider one over a V-Rod. But as far as "cool" factor goes, which doesn't always mean the best, fastest, most practical, most cost effective etc, etc. I think it's hard to beat an XR1200. I bet it's a blast to ride.

Hell AMC Javelins are "cool" and they're complete pieces of shite.

funny to see that, I had an AMC Javelin. It was great, far better than Mustangs of same era. So much so when I got an AMX gave the Javelin to my Father. He drove it for 4 or 5 more years

Having the Victory design studios just up the road from me I feel compelled to make a statement here on their behalf.

I'll let you know if I come up with something.

Jesus!! made for the guy who said "The Honda Rune isn't ugly enough for me" Wherever that idiot may be.

i thought that was a trophy next to your bike before I clicked it full size.

Truth is David, considering some of the crap I had been through until Stacey came along, she is a trophy.

And that FXR with the softail back fender was the fastest street bike at the Napierville drags, three years running so it did pickup a few trophys too

Im a big fan of the XR1200, I even like the XR1200X. I test road one, handling is AWESOME, and get torque. Price is a big turn off. I should sell for 9k TOPS

HAHAHAHHA. Have you considered moving?
I'll go with LUX on this one. CLOWN BIKES.
XR no thanks, Nightster Ok lots more potential.

History

well thats too bad, that Dinosaur and his Out Of Date products. Loom at those Nightmares He has "Created" for Victory. Clown Bikes.
That be said,I enjoy touring motorcycle museums, viewing m/c history, motorcycle art....crap or not.....everyone has opinions over the good, the bad and the ugly.
Arlen Ness has had innovative and creative designs over the years. If Arlen would not have created those bizarre designs, somebody would've.
You've got to see (in person)some of the amazing intricate metal work he's done 30 years ago. Agreed, the recent stuff is awful fugly....which may very well be his son's vision's?

I test road an XR1200 at a bike show this summer and was very unimpressed. I guess if I didn't already have a VRSCR it would have made a better impression. Once you'd road a VRSC of anykind the XR is a let down imho.

Your mileage may differ and yeah, it is cool,

John

Oh I understand peoples tastes etc... I just despise people like Arlen who might have something to say decades ago but now just shuffle around pre-made parts and slap their names on it etc... to make a Buck and his whole "Rebel Line of clothing bastardizes everything he once did. Worst thing a Revolutionary can do is get old. Just keep Daltry singing "Hope I die before I get old" in front of a auditorium full of $150+ ticket paying 50 +year olds.)
I will stick with Old timers like Mondo and Larry.

HE is right up there with Willie G in the Clothing Dept, "Mr Revoltionary" behind his Gated Community.

Live on the edge of what Arlen? The Egde of the perimeter of your gated community or you will call the cops on me?

I think much of this should be dumped on Corys doorstep not Arlens
The torch was passed, much like Gordie Howe had his time then his sons followed. They had their run but could never match the original.
Only in Cory's case it was more the gap was more obvious.

The difference between Arlan and the other two you mentioned was acceptance. More people liked Arlans products. I don't fault Arlan Ness because people bought into his proram, anymore than I'd knock Steve Jobs because lots of people like is offerings.

It is the OC price Choppers types, that brought nothing original to the table, I have difficulty with.

LuX you in Ca should understand very well if yur not living on the edge, yur taking too much space.

The XLCR is a bad bitch. My brother has one that he tweaked years ago,it hauls ass.
We were talking about going to get it just the other day.He stores it down in Orlando along with a home made XR.They used the 1000 engine from the CR to make the 750.The 750's run better than the CR's 1000,even with the tweaking that's been done to the 1000.
Until you ride an XR750 or the CR1000 Cafe Racer, you shouldn't bag the bike.Like I say, they are bad bitches.

Speaking of Indian Larry, I think I heard he died last year or so doing his famous "standing on the seat with no hands stunt" when he fell off and died of head injuries (not making this up).

I remember the XLCR ads when I was a kid too, well I was 21 at the time and had to decide between the '77 XLCR, a used '72 Dunstall Norton, or a new '77 Honda 750F. Ended up with the '77F but later in life got a '72 Dunstall (sold due to divorce :-( ) and managed to buy a VRSCR rather than an XLCR.....so goes life.
