I dont have a need to buy stolen things...because Zanotti is my friend here...fleebayprices for stuff (if any av.!!) is the same as new imported myselve from the US...
All prices in Holland and i suspect all surrounding countrys are the minimum of three times the americanretailprice !!!! example ; Reactor wheel = $920...in holland the same wheel costs 2168€ !!! at the dealer ....(Ehhh thats $3413)
what's more difficult to see happening is guys who NEED to sell there stuff for morguage or paying off a loan ...seats 10 bucks or so,garage cleaning, yea right....c'mon

I would not buy any part that I knew was stolen from anywhere. Very VERY seldom do I even buy used parts. Thievery just ain't right.

I think it would be a good idea to put a section up here for stolen bikes and parts, kinda like a database that we can refer to.

I think at one point in time or another were all tempted with the idea of the Easy cheap buy. All the while knowing the item fell off the back of a truck somewhere.

And once in a while were given the oppurtunity to get something dirt cheap that you know good and well came from somebody's house while they were out of town. And everytime this has happened to me ( I live in a Major city with alot of crime and drugs) I have turned around and walked away from the temptation.

But if said part was stolen from some Stealer or Warehouse that will go and file an insurance claim for their rediculously High mark up price. Then I would definitely have to think about it. And hope I have enough Self control to walk away.

Gas is High, Incomes are low, And when temptation rears it's ugly head is when we all have to answer this question.

I was thinking maybe we can set up a Vrod alert (just like an Amber alert). We can notify members here on the forum to look out for a certain bike in a certain area that was stolen. We all take notice to other peoples Vrod when we go to events so why not?

A lot of stuff on ebay is stolen.

I am a magistrate by profession. Maybe my genes chose me for the job. There's research that says morality is partly genetic. In any case, whether I am a magistrate or not, I would NEVER possess something that I know is stolen.

Last September, someone stole my widowed mother's John Deere riding lawn mower. It caused her so much stress that she developed a condition called mystena gravis. Her right eye wants to close all the time. Every time I see a Deere, I want to knock on doors and demand serial numbers.

There are a lot of crimes that are more heinous than stealing, but in my book, the worst kinds of people are thieves and liars.

I've been using Ebay for years. Most of the stuff I sold on Ebay were blemished parts from various motorcycles I owned in the past. Normally the stuff I buy off Ebay are either also blemished or new in original packing (surplus items from a HD dealer).

I am stay away from pairs of items that people sell such as front and rear matching wheels with tires or complete sets of tins. That kind of stuff makes me wonder.

Anyways, I got my bike lifted and strapped down in my garage. I welcome any thief to come and take my bike. I got 2 dogs and a Glock 19 to make sure that he isn't getting away.

I wouldn't knowingly buy stolen parts. Besides, receiving stolen property is a felony. No Thanks!

I bought a Motorola RAZR on Ebay a while back and about 2 months later I got a call from a NY District of Manhattan Detective. It turns out the phone had been stolen off a UPS truck along with about 200 other phones. Luckily, nothing was done to me, but I was able to provide the detective with the name and address that I sent the money to via PayPal.

Cheaters and Thieves should count their blessings. If this were the middle east, they would have had their hands cut off for stealing and their feet cut off for trying to run.

to bad we cant defend our property here in belgium, last week some theefs broke in to 11 houses in my street, my dad scared them away but if he would have charged them with a gun he would be prosecuted for manslaughter... so they ran and my nabours wont get their stuff back

I guess we complain about Ebay having alot of stolen parts but have you ever looked at some of the stuff sold on Craigslist.com?

I believe that most Vrod owners are hard working people that busted their asses off just to afford and customize a Vrod. I also admire Vrod owners in Europe, Canade and the Middle East. I am sure they paid a bit more than what paid here in the US for the bike.

Yerp.......

08 VRSCAW - rrp $32500 (anniversary)
08 VRSCAW - rrp $30500
08 DX - rrp $32000 AUD

Aud has been sittign at 93-98cents in the USD.

Hmm that dont add up..

So.. parts and mods.. someone thieves them.. Someone deserves a flogging!!!!

Let me add to this that the service working hour around here is about $141 so imagine what we going through around here. Gas price is about $2.1 per liter meaning $7.8 a gallon.

I believe that HD is at fault with the European and international pricing
I don't know about "at fault" but the mark up is certainly a bit rich. So, no, I'd never buy anything I even SUSPECTED had been stolen form an individual, but if it came from Harley or the European dealer network, I'll take it by the truckload, as much out of spite as anything else.

My friend just had his 07 Vrod stolen out of his garage 2 nights ago. It was brand new with a few miles on it. No mods done to the bike. The weird thing about the whole incident was that he had a Suzuki Hayabusa next to it but they didn't take that bike.

So I was wondering if you would buy parts for your Vrod knowing that the parts came from a stolen bike. I know I wouldnt buy it although I would be tempted to if the price was right.
If people don't like being stolen from, they shouldn't encourage thieves. Many years ago I had a girlfriend who was a single mum and lived in a council flat in Hackney (that's state sponsored housing in Harlem in American I think). She got her stuff ripped off once a month - even found two teenage bums hiding in a cupboard once, clutching the video they'd just ripped. This made her very insecure and unhappy. But she still bought stuff cheap off dodgy blokes in the pub, the silly bint. Only a matter of time before she bought her own telly back...

I hate thieves i work hard for living to supporting my family and provide them with as good living standards as i can. i am not complaining i make good living but i worked hard to get were i am to day i would newer buy some thing i had the slides suspicions about if it was stolen. steeling things is not a honest profession i and don´t care much for people that are dishonest in live, in one way our other. I am a strong believer that telling the truth and be honest to people pays back in live.

Best regards and drive safe
Bo

*UPDATE*

It seems the bike wasn't stolen after all. It seems he was 2 months ($600+) behind on his Harley Davidson payments and they sent the repo man after the bike. The only problem I have with this whole thing is that the repo man broke into my friends garage which is part of his house. The garage wasn't detached but actually bellow a bedroom. Also, I thought that H-D would have at least sent a letter or called him to let him know thathis account was past due. He called H-D however they gave him the routine " we called " line however his caller ID has no records of the incoming calls at all.

Any lawyers here? Any repo guys here? I thought breaking into a garage was illegal. Whats the difference between the garage or kitchen if they are both located inside the house?
