Replacement fuel filter 2002-2006?

I replaced my fuel filter, and found that the WIX or Napa Gold, part number 3227, is just about a perfect fit on my 2004 V-Rod. It has a slightly larger body, but will fit in the bracket. The inlet and outlet nipples are slightly larger than the HD, so I warmed the hoses with a heat gun and slipped them on, and securely clamped.

The filter was $17.81 at the local NAPA store. The HD filter is $42

I also replaced my fuel sock with the replacement found on another thread. It's a Bosch 68015 I got on Amazon for $10.71

I also learned in this process there is a repair kit available for a leaking fuel flange. It's HD # 6533-41A (fitting, straight, with sealant). It's cheap too.

Hope this helps!

Kurt that is great information. I wish we had a forum/sub-forum to keep threads with this type of information.
Replacement parts like this and the brake switch replacement info are hard to find once you need them. Search is of little help.

quick question regarding the new bosch replacement filter. how did you mount it up? my filter appears to have a much smaller hose that the original.

BTW Luigit, I put the Bosch filter on mine and didn't have any problems. It didn't have the stupid metal clip but it fit snuggly enough to not fall off during fuel module installation into tank and the module sits so close to the tank bottom there is no way it will fall off.

Here's what I actually did... more expert LL engineering...

I was concerned about the sock coming off, so I ripped off the metal retaining ring of the old one, and attached it to a mounting screw for the pump to brace it and ensure it doesn't come off.

Sometimes I even scare myself with my genius...

(I actually took this picture to show Jay (Shadow11) what I had done because the little plastic tit on the bottom of the pump broke off when we removed the original fuel sock... )
