neck nut loose

Recently was having some front end noise/clunk. So today I checked my nut under the cluster and low and behold...it was finger tight. What is the procedure for tightening this? And NO I do not want to bring it to the dealer. Search my S/N and youll see why. Thanks is advance.

hey wats up?... i had the same problem with my 08... jack up the bike on level ground, place an emty box or something in front of the wheel and center a ruler in the center of the front wheel and gently tap on one side of the tire till it fall s away.... tighten up until you can tap it about 3 inches off of center till it falls away... on either side... there is a spur type of washer that i think actually tightens the tension on the bearing. i think the nut is just to keep it tight... good luck bro... it's like a new bike afterwards...

The fork stem nut problem involving "the clunk" has been discussed a lot on the forum, do a search on "steering stem nut torque" or read the following:
https://www.1130cc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87001
https://www.1130cc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92613

I'm assuming you have a '08 VRSCDX so you should have a steel steering stem and the new nut mentioned in the link above isn't needed. Here are the steps for fixing this loose nut:
1) remove fork stem cap
2) tighten the stem nut to 80 to 90 ft·lbs (108 to 122 Nm)
3) after tightening stem nut check fall away and adjust steering stem bearings if necessary
4) Install fork stem cap

The previous post alludes to the steering stem bearing adjustment mentioned in step 3) but left out some important steps like loosening the upper triple clamp bolts. If these bearings need adjusting, follow the service manual instructions for the steering head bearing adjustment or "FALL-AWAY" as HD calls it. If you're going to do your own service buy a service manual, it's worth the investment. For now I'd suggest searching the forum on "fall away bearing adjustment". Here's a couple of threads to start with:
