Just bought my first bike, a V-Rod

Hello all. I've wanted a Harley for the past 12 years but haven't been able to afford one until now. I'm a 41 yo disabled Vet with a bad back (failed spinal fusion). I started looking at the V-Rods for about the last 5 years. I intend to turn it into a bagger at some point.

I am taking a motorcycle safety class next weekend. I hadn't planned on buying a bike till after that, but this guy dropped the price so low I had to jump on it. Its an 02 with almost 30k miles. Brand new tires, fresh oil and coolant change, windshield, crash bar with highway pegs, screaming eagle pipes, bluetooth CB with comms for 2, and a ton of pricy gear went with the bike for $4,500.

I had a buddy ride the bike home for me and I spent the last couple days tearing out the wiring for the CB and comms setup, and flushed the clutch and brake fluid. Took it out this morning to practice with it around the neighborhood and BOY does it want to go!!! I definitely need more practice keeping the throttle down to a more manageable speed around the neighborhood without killing it, which I did several times. I am supposed to get it inspected on Monday. Its not very far from me, but I do have to cross a couple intersections, so may postpone it depending on how comfortable I am by then.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and would love to talk shop. I live in the kansas city area. I've been lurking on here for quite awhile and am excited I actually, finally got my very own V-ROD!!!

'03 VRSCA (now next project), '05 VRSCA (also for parts), '14 VRSCDX (I'm NOT hoarding parts)

You know they are just like potato chips, you can't have just one.

Thanks guys, I definitely do respect the speed and am well aware of where my skill level is at right now. Getting ready to head out again and take some more baby steps around the neighborhood.
I would have rather been able to start smaller and work my way up to it, but with the way my wife likes to spend money there is no guarantee I'd be able to move up later on. Hell, it took me 12 years to be able to get this. 🤣
