TIPS code and shutdown

So when accelerating hard (seems to be only in first from a stop) my engine will shut down and TIPS appears in gauge. I understand this is due to the TSSM module thinking my bike fell over. The module had been relocated due to aftermarket fender being installed. Would the orientation be the only issue and if so what is the proper orientation? It's pretty flat and level the way it is now. Or could it be a faulty TSSM module? Anyone else run into this?

Sounds like it's rotated 90* to where it should be if acelleration is tripping it. Hard braking should trip it also in that case.

I agree with Ron, your module is working as it should but you need to reorient the module to the original orientation relative to the long dimension of the module.

You don't mention what year or model bike you have so I can't say what way you need to mount it. Harley uses two types of TSM/TSSM/HFSM modules, "Z" and "Y". The "Z" type must have the long dimension parallel to the bike. These were used on 2002 to 2006 VRSC models except the VRSCR. The "Y" type must have the long dimension perpendicular to the bike. These were used on 2007 and newer VRSC bikes.
