Thanks. I'll do this too. My friend has the meter I think- I'll be heading there to put on the tab slipons I found here on this site once they arrive. Over there I'll make sure to check the wiring/ grounds

Anyone have experience buying regulators off ebay? I see a lot around the $40 range including shipping. E.g. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Voltage-Reg...gAAOSwnmlctqKQ

The voltage regulators can be had for 40 bucks-ish on Ebay or Amazon. It seems same regulator is used across the HD lineup. Weather that's your problem or not, I cant say. It is super simple to change. Maybe 10 minutes.

Since you mentioned that your buddy has a multi meter. You can test the health of your battery yourself.

If your battery is healthy it will hold its voltage for 30 seconds to a minute with key ON (Head light on, fuel pump primed). If the battery is a brick, the voltage will begin to drop quickly.

My guess is that if you are riding the bike day after day with the bike not sitting on a trickle charger in between you are probably OK for now.

I have had batteries discharge on me a number of times (European sport bikes like to eat batteries). Typically they do not hold voltage period. I have charged them up and watched the voltage drop quickly while not connected to anything.
