You should have sent it back, because they have good customer service.
I did contact them, the response i got was very quickly.. but showed no interest in helping me with the pipes.. basically they mentioned the defects have no adverse effects on the exhaust system, that if i want something perfect i should buy a Vance and Hines exhaust instead... was literally the words they sent me..
No, the bike had a de-lid mod done to it by the previous owner i found out during my initial maintenance on the bike, it already has a K&N filter, i freshly washed and oiled it before i took the bike for dyno tuning and changed the spark plugs. I drove it to the shop on baseline tune, got there just fine.. just had a lot of random dead spots in the tunes along with random missfires if i cruised to long at a set rpm. I called them today, they are still working on the tune, have about 40 runs done so far and tuning sorted out for up to 70% throttle. The bike was getting a break before they finish it this afternoon. Apparently the baseline Vance and Hines Indy 2 in 1 tune recommended for the danmoto is way way off based on how the guy explained it... it was running so lean at just idle alone that it was pinging on 93 octane from my usual sams club fuel station...then he said at 3200-4000 it was so pig rich that it was fouling the plugs..
Please keep us posted how it works storx. I was thinking of switching to this exhaust only to shave about 30 lbs off of the bike vs stock. But if this kind of aggravation comes with it... I'll keep my VRSCD as is or save a little more for another exhaust.
I got mine back from ceramic coating. Looks good and seems very durable. My added baffle works well but with the original price plus ceramic coat, plus my time to mod an extension plus a baffle, not sure it is worth it. Probably go with akropovic if anything else happens. It's good for a cheap exhaust if you are not fussy about paint falling off and annoying drone at speed....
Wish i had a meaningful update for you guys.. got the bike back today from the shop who was doing a custom tune on the bike with it still running like poop.. they told me that the exhaust is just to short and power commander 5 is not adjustable enough to tune the exhaust on an older vrod without oxygen sensors..
