I would adjust the rear shock pre-load to handle the extra weight and leave the belt tension set per factory spec.
The factory spec. places the belt tension sufficiently tight to handle the transmission output torque without exceeding the maximum design tension at any point during the swingarm travel. Belt tension set too high risks damage to the transmission output shaft bearing and too low risks a sprocket tooth jump that puts even higher strain on the bearing.
The VRSCR has a resting ride height that positions the swingarm at a location where belt tension is minimized due to the extended shocks. On this model the mid belt deflection spec is 10 mm @ 10 lbs force (vs. 6 mm @ 10 lbs force for the VRSCA). This lowered belt tension allows for the increased tension as the suspension compresses.
