Top radiator hose

Hey guys, noticed a very slight leak where the top radiator hose on 03 connects to the steel pipe that runs along the frame just below the air box. Is that a heat shrink clamp holding it on and how difficult is it to replace yourself versus the dealer. Any information would be appreciated.

I am also looking for a used ignition switch with key/keys if anyone has one. Mine is locking up. Took it apart and lubed it up but stuck again on 2nd ride. Thanks

The shrink hose clamp is made by gates and is available through NAPA AUTO PARTS.
It does require removing the hose to replace.
Several members just end up putting a regular worm hose clamp over it without making all the mess. I answered your key question in your other post

Try hitting it with a heat gun. If that fails use a worm gear clamp like most.

Just be careful with the heat gun. Power Coating just may melt.

Entirely possible it will snug up a bit more with heat.

the clamp that holds the two steel pipes to the head has been known to wear a hole in the pipe closest to the head,i suggest thats more likely the culprit.i always remove and toss that clamp.

Good grief what a dumb idea... I really dislike heat shrink wrap for clamps on hoses that get hot and cold. I had a few that leaked. I tried heating and worm gear clamping the old shrink clamps to no avail.

Do yourself a favor and gingerly cut and peel the gates shrink clamps off and install regular hose clamps.

I had to remove my battery and battery tray for access to one of them. You could look up ronnies h-d and order the clamps that are already on other places on your bike so the clampy clampettes are all pretty and blend in vs looking like a cheap rusty pos.

MY 2007 with 150,000 miles still has the original Gates clamps in fine condition. No leaks ever.

Shrink clamps are far superior to regular hose clamp. The offer constant clamping pressure where as regular you need to periodically snug them up as the hose takes a compression set. As with anything , they need to be correctly installed.

I replaced all of my hoses with Samco sport hoses and clamps. Nice upgrade. They make a kit for vrod. You. An get them in colors as well.
