Im pretty sure that Ive read somewhere that there is enough room in our clutches to add another plate to clutch and shorten up the clutch engagement range. Is it possible ?

This is the way to go. These type of levers have been common on other brands of bikes for quite a while and only just recently they've been making them for H-D's. These are Oberon but there are other manufacturers that make them also. Just do a Google search or look for them on eBay and Amazon. On eBay & Amazon you'll probably find some that look pretty good that are made in China at a very good price. The Chinese ones can be hit-and-miss on quality but I know some guys that were lucky and got some decent Chinese ones.

HogLeverage Adjustable Levers

Here are the same Oberon levers from a place in the USA. From what they say at their website they have had them made for them by Oberon in the UK and the levers are sent to them in California and assembled for sale.
