I been looking for a baseplate and backrest for my R, I'm not paying 400-600 for one. So next week my friend and I are going to get some steel rod and break out the torch and welder and fab up my own using my saddle bag brackets. I'll post pics of the process and the install. Also, if anyone is interested after I'm done, I'll start selling them and not charge the outrageous prices like "hrf900r" off ebay does. I don't care, the guy is NUTZ :spank:

The hfr900 guy buys vrod stuff cheap and then lists on ebay for retail+ prices. He used to lurk on his site and buy up the good deals, but has been banned a fee times I understand. Notwithstanding, I sold something on ebay cheap and it ended up in his hands and he listed for over double what he bought from me. Sorry to stray off topic a bit, but there is a "sticky" thread about the guy in the classified section. It is the Henry Bron thread.

I just seen he bought a baseplate with sissybar and luggage rack for like 275.00, now he wants 600.00. Next week I'm starting the fab work.
There are still R model base plates to be found New at Harley dealerships across the country, my local Harley dealerships parts man was able to find one a couple of weeks ago for me for a little over 200 brand new. If you would like I can see if he still has the information for the dealerships that still have them in stock.
Sure, that would be nice. I'll still fab one up to see what I can do. Also a excuse to drink some Whiskey and away from the wife time
