Street launch?
I destroyed a GSXR 600 the other day from light to light but my take off was a scarey situation. I reved to maybe 2000 - 2500 and then let it roll out a couple of feet and twisted it hard, I smoked the 240 and the bike went squirrely as hell but I stayed in it to the rev limiter (shift light is on it's way). I caught second and then clutched it and coasted the rest of the way to the light, I was concentrating but I think the GSXR rolled out and twisted it too, he didn't stand a chance. How should I be taking off at a stop light? Is the almost fishtailing wheelspin as dangerous as it felt?

When on the street if you want a good launch your gonna have to feather the clutch or your gonna roast the tire if you just dump it. Fishtailing and squirrelly isn't dangerous if you know how to ride it out but its not for the timid, and spinning is gonna slow you way down if your trying to race someone.

Don't forget to lock out reverse. That can be scary when you don't expect it...

What a chump! Typical of someone who would put a 4" diameter exhaust on something with a 2.0 L engine.

On the street, with novice riders, torque rules. If both bikes are in the hands of xpert riders a current 600 would easily win. The 600's are a lot harder to get the full potential out of. They make all their horsepower on top. Hard to keep the revs in the powerband & still launch right. Thats why big inch twins will shoot out of the hole so quick b4 they start to fade.
