Where to ride in Vegas?

In may I'm going to Las Vegas to get married. Plan to rent a bike and do a day of riding one of the days. Anyone have any good ideas of places to go? Thanks.

Ride up to Zion National Park (159 miles so start early) then to Bryce canyon then back through Zion at dusk. It will take all day but it will be a ride you'll never forget. My wife and I did this same trip in a car last year and Zion after sunset is an otherworldly place, almost spooky. Looks like you can rent any type of bike there for about $150 to $200 a day with unlimited miles.

Hey Crazy, there are a number of great rides in the Vegas area. Make sure you ride out to Hoover Dam and the new bridge that is out that way. One of the coolest rides I have been on is out to a town just outside of Vegas a little ways called Nelson Nevada. It's a neat little ghost town in Eldorado canyon, nice ride from Vegas. Just getting out into the desert is pretty awesome as well. Also be sure to ride up the strip, but do it early in the morning so you can enjoy it without crawling along in bumper to bumper traffic. I have been to Vegas quite a few times and we always try and rent bikes and head out for a ride. Hope this helps a bit.

I do not want to volunteer anyone but there are quite a few members out that way. Hopefully they will chime in here and offer advice or even a guided tour.

Did both these rides as part of a much longer trip. Absolutely recommend them, one of the most spectacular scenery you will find. Makes you feel amazingly minute. Also, Painted desert, Lake Mead, Four Corners, Grand Canyon.

Hell of a thing riding around in the desert on a motorcycle, gets cold this time of year so where ever you go be prepared.

Be happy to be a tour guide. We have a 300 mile loop that gets you Red rock, Mt. Charleston, Overton, Lake Mead park, and the Hoover dam. As you get closer to the time, PM me, and I will make sure Ann and I are available. We just did this with Brian and Amy from RI, with his Dad, Wayne and Mom, Hazel. Big fun. Joe

Grand Canyon?

I'm planning on touring through in May and was wondering about access to the north rim.
I understand the road is closed in winter. When does it typically open?

You need a helmet 24/7 here in Vegas.... novelty helmets are fine I guess. I have wear one for two years, got pulled over by cops a couple of times, but they never said anything about my novelty.
