Help!-Is this a good deal on a 2013 rod night rod

Hello everyone first real post here....looking forward to being an active member of the community!

I have made the decision to get a v-rod night rod. I have located and negotiated on several here in Virginia. Currently I am looking at 2 bikes- both gloss black night rods one with ABS/security and the other without.

The non-abs bike lists at 15500 and change...dealer will sell for 13950 (1500.00 off msrp) and waive freight and setup fees...850.00.....so i just add tags and tags. ABS bike at another dealer not as good a discount....1000.00 off msrp but still want me to pay 900.00 freight/setup.

Thoughts?...don't think I need ABS so inclined to go with first deal

Thx in advance!

1. Get the ABS. You wont be sorry.
2. Find a different dealer.

Understand on the ABS

Find a different dealer?....does that mean you feel the deal i negotiated on either bike was not good?

Both deals don't seem that bad. But, I wouldn't do without the abs either.

Do not be afraid to push back a little, the dealers have some room to work with you. Let them know you are looking at other bikes and dealerships. A few years ago I would say MSRP would be the norm, now I would try and get all you can out of the dealers. Do a search, I am sure there are more dealers you can look at. If you in northern VA there are several dealers around the DC beltway on the MD side. A bit of internet searching and a few emails might find you a better deal. I agree with Rift though, both deals do not sound to bad.

Thx to all so far....have tried working them both would be easier if armed with invoice. The dealer with the ABS bike i offered 14000....salesman told me his manager said that was their invoice and wouldn't sell it at that figure....then when i mentioned holdback one said that their was none on Harleys which i find hard to believe.

By the way I am in Hampton Roads.

I bought a 2012 "leftover" out of state. In my paper work was a "Domestic 2012 Model Year Confidential Price List". I think it was either a mistake, or needed to insure I paid the correct sales tax in my state. Anyway, it lists a non-ABS Vivid black NRS at Dealer net of $12,239. Colors are about $250 more. Several other models are listed, and all look like a 25% bump from cost to MSRP. Run that number past your salesman and let us know his reaction. Hope this helps. Ride safe.

Thx Mr Bill.....thats pretty close to what "see dealer cost" says the invoice should be as well. A 2013 then should be several hundred more than that.....

Funny thing is dealers have leftover 2012 silver anniversaries...seem unwilling to deal on those as much...

VBVROD, that is what I bought is a Anniversary model. It was on their floor for about a year, per the date on the cert. of origin. Good luck on your search. I would think they would be willing to deal, especially this time of year.

The silver was not my 1st color choice, but that is what was available at the dealer I chose. Traded a 5 yr. old Roadglide and $1700 for a new bike and 2 yr. warranty. I'm thinking there are not a lot silver anniversary models out there.

Tell the sales agent that you want to talk to the manager.

go over his head and see how fast the price drops.

Times are hard and if you find a saleman that likes cash in his pocket a great deal can be made.

Ask the salesman, Do you like cash in your pocket and let him take it from there.

Times are hard and people do desperatre thing for cash.

It is your money not thiers.

You will not be sorry with the ABS! If I understand correctly, the security system is included with the ABS package and thats a nice feature too. You would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
