Im sure this has been asked a 1000 times...But I just got a 2013 special and really like the Vance and Hines 2 into 1 pipes. I was told by my local Harley dealer that the best thing to do is get the pipes and a tuner at the same time...and obviously he strongly recomemded the Harley Race Tuner over a Power Commander???? Thoughts???
Power Vision. Sounds great, although I don't have one. I have the Harley tuner. It does a very simple job adequately, but very clumsily. You are paying $500 for a $20 box and to be able to use some software that would be laughed off the web if it were open source.
Arnotts, D&D, SEPST, custom paint or all chrome according to mood, GRC seat, wave rotors, Muscle wheels, Burleigh bars, V-Gauge, assorted pretty bits.
2007 VRSC-AW (Fun).
2007 KTM 990 Adventure (Off Road and Touring).
2006 Triumph Daytona T955i (Evil).
2009 Fatboy (Heavily Tarted Up Show Pony).
2011 Bonneville (On long term loan).
1978 Triumph Bonneville Based Racer (Needs A Rebuild)
If all you are going to do is add pipes the most sensible thing to do is add your pipes and buy a Pulse width modulator.. IMO
The only reason for buying an expensive tuner is if you plan on doing more Mods Later..

Bub 7 and Screamin eagle race tuner, dyno'd at 120HP and 85ft/lbs of torque...and i have the dyno sheet in my possession, It now lights the back wheel up when i hammer it at anything less than 40mph, runs very very good.. i have a 12DX and first went with a PCV, that ran like shit then it started running on one cylinder...JUNK. Then went to a thundermaxx, ran decent for about 400 miles, then left me stranded on the road and never ran again with the tmaxx.
took it to the dealership where they installed a SERT and dynotuned it. I know folks have their issues with the dealerships.....but at least they have the resources to stand behind their work and products. way more than i can say for Tmaxx and Powercommander.
As with any pipes and tuner you are gonna deal with the little hiccup around 3-4k rpm that can be fine tuned out, but it takes some work. good luck
